The Black Spot tragedy originally took place in the 1930s, but the new show shifts the timeline to 1962, staying within the revised timeline in Muschietti’s film.

This change set the stage for Pennywise’s 27-year terror cycle, which was rooted in the Cold War era, a period much like the 1930s, filled with real-world fears, prejudices, and uncertainties.

“Twenty-seven years was Pennywise’s dormant period,” Muschietti said. “It was a different part of American history, and children and adults alike developed a new set of fears about the costs of the Cold War.

“Our baseline is 1962, but we’ll jump forward… Every 27 years, when it comes, its cycle will be marked by two catastrophic events, one at the beginning and one at the end. We Consider the Black Spot as an event around which many stories revolve.

Jovan Adepo (Babylon, 3 body issues) and Tyler Page (“Beverly Hills Cop 4” Zola) leads an impressive cast, which also sees Bill Skarsgård Returning as Pennywise.

The Muschiettis emphasized that the show will explore Pennywise’s origins, but with a unique sense of mystery that mirrors King’s approach.

Said: “We’ll explore Pennywise’s origins, but just like in the books, we’ll do it with a healthy dose of mysticism.”
