Meet Riley, a new doll representing children of both Asian and Caucasian backgrounds!
Jilly Bing, a company that celebrates Asian American heritage through dolls and toys, is introducing playtime to Riley. This is the brand’s first doll to represent Asian and Caucasian girls.
According to a New York Times analysis of the 2020 Census, more than 3.5 million Americans identify as mixed-race Asian. Riley dolls will give children the opportunity to have a doll that looks like them, something every little kid deserves.
Riley also has an interesting backstory, and learning about her history, quirks, and hobbies is a fun way to celebrate her arrival! The daughter of an Asian father and a Caucasian mother, she loves outdoor adventures and snacks from Asian grocery stores. Riley also likes to dust her Asian shaved ice with powdered sugar, a non-traditional topping. She says “my mix, my way” and encourages children to be proud of who they are and to be themselves.
Riley dolls help expand Jilly Bing’s mission to create lovable Asian American characters that reflect the diversity of today’s communities. Her appearance, background, interests and personality make the Riley Doll a great way for children to learn to be proud of themselves and their heritage.
