Now this has nothing to do with Star Wars – or at least only very, very remotely. But since Kathleen Kennedy still thinks she could make a Rey Palpatine movie about a new Jedi Order alongside superstar Daisy Ridley, many are sure to watch Daisy Ridley’s upcoming release with interest How would an action movie be played – she plays Girlboss McLane in a movie that’s a blatant Die Hard rip-off. No, this is not a joke! Someone actually made a movie where Daisy played a female John McClane who had to stop a terrorist attack on a skyscraper, then gave it a different title and hoped at least a few people wouldn’t notice the copy/paste Work. I have to be honest, when I learned about that movie today (the trailer has been out for about a week), I thought it was some skit or parody… but, no, they were obviously serious.
They cast Daisy Ridley as Girlboss McLane in a remake of Die Hard, only this time it’s set in London and Daisy isn’t a cop , but an ex-soldier(!) who becomes a window cleaner (now that’s somewhat believable) The casting, Daisy plays a British ex-soldier who becomes a window cleaner…what)…but basically everything else It’s all the same (literally). Of course, the terrorist is still played by a certain Brit (Clive Owen), and just looking at the trailers, it’s actually Die Hard. Now they only call it “the cleaner” because Daisy is the window cleaner here…
Now I wonder what Disney/Lucasfilm will say when Daisy’s next attempt at a female lead role outside of Star Wars also fails. Daisy has made several attempts to become a mainstream actress outside of Star Wars: she did well in the remake of Murder on the Orient Express, but she wasn’t the lead in that film, and it was an ensemble film. The next film was the ill-fated Chaos Walking, in which she played the female lead alongside Tom Holland, but the film failed miserably. After that she made a couple of indie/low budget/art house films that were completely under the radar of most people…and “The Cleaner”, I mean “The Cleaner” is now the first one to actually have Daisy in the sole lead role And non-Star Wars movies with action heroines too. What problems might arise?
If you want to experience firsthand how creatively bankrupt the Western film industry is and why they deserve their failure… watch the trailer here . Remember, someone decided to spend money on this (luckily, not too much, the film’s budget was reportedly around $25 million – or 1/10th of The Acolyte’s). For whatever reason. I do wonder if Disney would panic if the movie flopped or was torn apart by audience reviews online. The film is set to be released in February 2025 and will obviously not be released in cinemas in the UK, but will be shown as a streaming movie on Sky, but it seems that the film may be released in the United States.
Will you watch that movie? In fact, I probably just watched it for a laugh. This probably falls into the “bad but good” category. perhaps. Poor Daisy…she really needs a better agent who picks her better roles and better movies. Ex-soldier now window cleaner who single-handedly stopped terrorist attack? They chose Daisy to play everyone’s part, and Daisy herself said, “Yes, that’s the character I want to play!” Really? It would be like choosing late 1980s Meg Ryan over Bruce Willis in Die Hard. Then again, Daisy is an adult…she can always say “no.” I guess she needs money. None of us. But really now…Daisy deserves to know which roles she can and should play…and which roles aren’t right for her.
