By now, the depressing news of 9-1-1: Lone Star’s cancellation has spread, and we know that the upcoming fifth season will be the last.
It’s never fun when your favorite series is a hit, even if it’s a relief to know it has a proper ending.
That’s why sometimes it’s nice to think about what would happen if the characters we know and love could live in other identities.
So we’ve got some fun and silly ideas for a 9-1-1: Lone Star spin-off that could keep the spark alive.
From crime procedurals to firefighter spin-offs and even family dramas, there’s something for everyone.
Check out our wish list for 9-1-1: Lone Star spin-offs and share your thoughts below!
9-1-1: Detroit Split – Marion and Paul run a new house together
One of the main plot points we can expect in the upcoming season of 9-1-1: Lone Star will be two best friends competing against each other to see who will get the coveted lieutenant position.
With Judd gone, someone had to take over the leadership position, and both Marian and Paul are capable and well-suited for the job.
We are not here to choose, we will soon find out how the story ends.
But given how well 9-1-1 has performed at ABC, and with rumors of further expansion of the series, could two of Lone Star’s most beloved characters benefit from it?
Marion and Paul will be refreshing in a new location
So far, 9-1-1 franchises have opened in California and Texas.
In addition to making for unusual allies in the sociopolitical thriller “Civil War,” the two states have generally warmer climates.
Of course, we’re not including Lone Star’s Ice Storm Saga.
The franchise desperately needs a more urban city, preferably in the north that can experience a variety of weather conditions and lots of snow, to bring in new calls and situations.
Paul was used to life in a northern metropolis, where every need was met.
Still, he’ll be in a different city than his hometown of Chicago, so there’s a difference.
In addition, we already have the “Chicago One” series.
Always up for new adventures and a change of pace, Marjan will thrive in an environment where she can see a lot of action.
Plus, it would be interesting to explore the rich Muslim culture if she could immerse herself in a broad Muslim community—especially one that’s not as stifling and rigid as what she experienced in Texas.
It will also be a great full-circle moment to see these talented people build their teams in new cities and give others the opportunities they have.
Elite First Responders – Jessica, TK and Nancy’s spin-off about paramedics
There are many series about police officers and firefighters, but few that focus exclusively on paramedics.
Sometimes the paramedic storyline takes a backseat to everything else, but there are so many different angles that one could explore.
Healthcare continues to evolve, and there are many pitfalls.
It’s interesting when a show tackles this issue from various angles, one of which is the privatization of medical transportation services.
We got a glimpse of this when 126 EMT units had to compete with professional and private nursing services, but it would have been nice to have a full series that expanded on this exploration.
If anyone watches Grey’s Anatomy, it’s always interesting to see how a specialized ambulance allows doctors to operate inside if necessary.
We’re also seeing community outreach about caregivers on shows like Station 19.
Lone Star initially focuses on the impact caregivers like Michelle Black have on underserved communities, and we later learn that Tommy often inspires her.
It would be nice to have a series that focused more on what Tommy, Nancy, and TK do, even if it requires them to join a different type of EMT service to do it.
Fire Inspection – Irvine Consultation with Law Enforcement (Permanent)
By now, there’s a running joke that Irving is primarily a cop disguised as a firefighter.
If you pay him, he can’t get involved in law enforcement and crime fighting.
So why not pay him to do it?
He’s the perfect character, both annoying and lovable.
He can consult with law enforcement, frustrating any police officer he works with and becoming an unexpected asset.
It would be great if Irving could be on the Arson team long-term, but under someone’s leadership.
He’s not the most authoritative person because he’s used to being the authority and enjoys being evil, which is the perfect formula for workplace tension and conflict.
This would give Owen a chance to avoid endangering himself by fighting fires and instead do it in other ways that still excite him and give him that adrenaline rush he’s always loved.
We’ve seen the eccentric consultant use the cop formula a dozen different ways, so that’s probably a sure thing, and, you know, it’s Rob Lowe. Give it the green light.
The Ryders – An emotional, engaging and beautiful family drama centered on Judd and Grace
Yes, Sierra McClain signed Grace Ryder, but I just chose to ignore that for my own peace of mind.
In my perfect world, I wouldn’t have to say goodbye to one of the most loving, pure, beautiful, healthy marriages on television.
We got so little, damn it!
In an ideal world, Lone Star would probably be more Judd and Grace-centric at first because the logistics would make sense, but a spin-off series with them would be perfect.
The Ryders are the perfect couple to direct a family drama, and MacLean and Palak’s chemistry is so delightful that we want to watch their show every week.
Both actors also have the leading qualities to carry their own films.
For the Ryders, family is the center of it all, and network television is sorely lacking in family dramas because most of them, like Blue Bloods , have ended.
The genre is shrinking before our eyes, and there’s still a hole in broadcast television the size of “Us” that a great family drama about established characters we’ve grown to love could more than fill.
Perhaps Judd will pursue other forms of service, such as a program for at-risk youth, which is near and dear to him.
Grace could run the project with him or become involved in some form of social work or politics to further her social initiatives.
They would make a great power couple, using that power to change the lives of everyone around them while raising their daughter and dealing with typical family storylines.
“Lone Star Rangers” – Carlos and Campbell’s friends police action spin-off
Carlos will follow in his late father’s footsteps and become a Texas Ranger.
He will also have an exciting new partner in Campbell, played by the talented and beloved Parker Young.
Everything we know about this upcoming collaboration promises to be an exciting ride, with the producer even teasing that he hopes there will be a spinoff between the two.
So, damn it, just leave it to us!
If you find the right clues, build an audience, and have a strong cast, a police procedural is always a sure thing.
Rafael Silva and Parker Young sound like a match made in heaven and a promising dynamic duo.
We’ll get a preview of what these two can do as the season unfolds, but we only get to spend a little time with them, which almost feels like a disservice since the series naturally has to explore all of the characters.
However, we’d be fine if they got a full series after this is all done.
It would even be a perfect setup if Carlos never officially found out who killed his father, or if the conspiracy within the Rangers expanded further and deeper than the last few episodes of Lone Star’s final season could reasonably explore. .
Often, it was felt that the talented Silva was underutilized in a series of talented players.
A spin-off would allow him to shine and hold his own against another great actor.
Is it too early to ask for a spin-off?
Over to you, 9-1-1: Lone Star Fanatics.
We hate that the series is coming to an end, but what types of 9-1-1: Lone Star spin-offs would you like to see with these beloved characters? Let’s take a listen and see!
