In the lead-up to San Diego Comic-Con 2024, publishers, creators, and more are releasing a ton of information about what they’ll be doing at the world’s largest comic convention. However, amid this year’s consistent stream of press releases and exclusive announcements, beat Received a cryptic trailer from First Idaho Comics from comics promotion company Don’t Hide PR.
As shown below, the 28-second clip shows a bison standing in a field chewing grass. Yellow text flashed across the screen: “Welcome to Idaho, home to the world’s most beloved Idaho comics.” There was no music, just the sound of bison munching.
Then the opening chords of “Private Idaho” played by the B-52s were played over the text: “We’re still working on that one.” Below this text was a URL: idahosnumberonecomicbookcompany.com.
The website of Idaho’s #1 comic book company showed another clip, this one just 21 seconds long. More yellow text appears behind and above the mountains, this time scrolling up: “Good morning, America. It’s time to make comics. The URL appears again at the bottom of the video. This trailer has no music.
Next to this trailer embed, there is a form to sign up for the mailing list, which asks for your name, email, and mobile number. Needed in all fields. The domain was registered through NameCheap in February 2023 with no other identifying details, and was recently updated.
We didn’t know what to do because we hadn’t heard of Idaho’s #1 comic book company – which was embarrassing because we pride ourselves on always being in the loop on comic book news – and “Don’t Hide PR” either No other contextual clues are provided.
Whatever happens, this is a unique mystery we’re looking forward to solving. We suspect that as we get closer to Santiago, more information will be released and perhaps the answer to the mystery will be revealed there.
