Fans first saw the trailer for Gundam: Vengeance Requiem premiere this summer, but Netflix has released a full four-minute clip from the upcoming film. Part of the long-running Gundam series, Vengeance Requiem is the second entry to be created entirely with computer animation (the first being Mobile Suit Gundam MS IGLOO) and the first to be produced using Epic Games The entire series was animated in Unreal Engine 5.

“In Universal Century 0079, the Principality of Zeon declared independence from the Earth Federation, plunging the two countries into war,” the official program synopsis reads. “The Zeon Army initially gained the upper hand with their revolutionary new weapon, the ‘Mobile Suit’, but they lacked the power to control the entire Earth, causing the war to reach a stalemate.”

The film takes place eleven months after the war, and clips show Earth Federation forces attempting to seize a Zeon-controlled base somewhere in Eastern Europe. As the skirmish continues, pilot Iria Solari and the Red Wolves mobile suit platoon join the fight.

The film is written by Gavin Hignight (“Tekken: Bloodlines”), directed by Erasmus Brosdau, and produced by animation giants Sunrise and SAFEHOUSE, Inc.

“Gundam: Vengeance Requiem” will premiere exclusively on Netflix on October 17.
