Verizon’s massive outage is apparently over, with the telecom giant finally announcing that service has been fully restored.

It’s unclear exactly what caused Monday’s outage. Considering how secretive telcos keep such outages, we may never find out. Verizon’s service was down for several hours across the country, leaving people unable to make calls, send text messages or use mobile data for much of the day.

“We know how much people rely on Verizon and we apologize for any inconvenience,” Verizon wrote. “We appreciate your patience.”

News of the service restoration comes about seven hours after Verizon first acknowledged the problem, which affected customers across much of the United States. Reports affected by Verizon outage. Unfortunately, these countries are in the minority and many more are devastated.
Despite Verizon’s statement, some people on social media claimed that their service had not been restored despite restarting their phones as recommended. It seems that some customers will have to be patient for a while longer.
