refuge is bringing Pete Wentz’s die inside Head to Comic Shop to pick up the exclusive edition! New graphic novel comes from Wentz (fall out Boy), Hannah Klein (everything is fine)and Lisa Steer (Modern Witch Tarot). Not to mention it was painted by a famous artist Nathan Gooden (“The Savages,” “Brandon Sanderson’s Dark One,” “The Charge”) And will be launched everywhere in September 2024!
The story centers on Ash’s finale, or her imagination that she will exit the stage of life perfectly forever. Ash is 16 years old. She is cold to the core. She believes that death is the best way to find relief. The thing is, there’s nothing more embarrassing than dying of a limp. Unfortunately, those plans failed when the knife she bought from an online store was cast with a protection spell. She needs to find the witch who turned her grand exit attempt into immortality, which is the worst gift Ash could get. The witch turns out to be another 16-year-old girl named Liv, and together they vow to break the curse and fight for Ash’s death. Things get even more complicated when there’s this weird new anti-depressant drug called Somnia, and to make matters worse, her mom’s boyfriend Greg.
Wentz noted:
So excited to release Dying Inside. Hannah is one of my favorite contemporary authors, like Larry David and Elliott Smith had a child, and Lisa is a great addition to help bring her artistic talents to the This child becomes a reality. Can’t wait for it to appear in the world.
Co-author Klein added:
When the idea for Dying Inside was sparked, I had no idea what form it would ultimately take. The fact that it got me started in the world of graphic novels has been one of the most exciting and surprising series of events and I’m so grateful. I’ve been working with Pete on various creative endeavors over the years, and I feel like our different styles and shared visions really came through on this project, especially the absolutely unique and incredible art of Lisa Steer, and a steady and supportive hand of refuge to guide the way. I feel so lucky that our vision was met with open arms and a million yeses to create the exact project we hoped to achieve.
