Update (18/09/24, 3:00pm BST): Arrowhead has now deployed a patch that fixes the shield generator package and a crash that can occur “when new players join during a console migration.” The studio has urged players who are currently playing the game to restart the game, presumably to ensure the update is applied immediately.
Helldivers 2’s patch 1.001.100 has been causing a storm since its release, but that doesn’t mean its deployment is completely flawless, and a shield generator bug making players immune to melee attacks has surfaced.
But Arrowhead is already dealing with this issue, and even if some players don’t seem to mind the studio ignoring it, chief creative officer Johan Pilestedt took the opportunity to tease various changes that might come with the game’s next big patch.

“We’re aware of a (rather embarrassing) bug with the Personal Shield Generator, which prevents it from being damaged by melee attacks,” the developer, who we recently discovered has a penchant for puns, tweeted. “We’re considering it. Fix this problem as soon as possible.
If you haven’t encountered it yet – and it seems not everyone has – it looks like this bug is as useful as it sounds for those who want an easy ride, leaving you standing in the middle of the entire Terminid horde, just Need to make them attack you. You’re only at risk if something like the Bile Titan shows up to ruin the fun, or if you’re accidentally killed by a teammate.
Of course, the benefits it brings make this bug one of those that people have shamelessly asked Arrowhead not to rush into fixing, but Pilestedt persisted, joking that it makes the game “maybe a little too easy.” One player also asked him if he had “any plans for enhancing jump pack cooldowns,” to which he responded by confirming that the studio does plan to “consider jump packs for the next patch.” So, there you have it, this latest patch is only a day old and we’re already receiving news about a follow-up patch.
