Update (25/07/24, 4:10pm BST): Larian has confirmed that the Patch 7 closed beta for Baldur’s Gate 3 is now live on Steam.
“If you’re lucky enough to be randomly chosen, check your Steam library and you should now be able to download the game to test,” it reads. “Not everyone has access, so if you can keep any spoilers, we’ll be grateful. Thankfully we’ll be adding more players throughout the closed beta, so keep an eye on your Steam library!
If you’ve been looking forward to jumping into the closed beta for Baldur’s Gate 3 7th Edition after getting your seat, there’s some bad news. Unfortunately, while the developers tried to fix some other issues, the game’s dice decided to stop working as expected, and Larian had to hold off a bit.
As outlined in Larian’s community update last week, the beta was previously slated to begin yesterday, July 22nd, and the studio went on to name the 9 million things included in the update – which somehow weren’t available yet after being told Finish things.

“Well, the Patch 7 closed beta is set to begin today, but as we prepare the build for you, we’re once again humbled by the classic lesson every game developer learns while playing a game of bug-fixing whack-a-mole: If you fix There’s a bug here, there’s probably another bug there,” Larian explained in a post on the latest update on Steam.
“This happened with one of the fixes we wanted to introduce in patch 7, which caused passive scrolling to stop working. We’re trying to figure out how we got here, so while we’re at it, we’ll be pushing for closed testing Edition will return later this week.

So, yes, sad looks, but sad looks that don’t last long, assuming those pesky dice roll back to DN-doing what they’re told as quickly as Larian seems to think they’ll do. As the studio points out, though, this does mean you have more time to participate in the beta if you haven’t already.
It went on to confirm that Patch 7 includes “over 1,000 fixes and improvements,” and shared some new highlights from that list. These include: “Making the way you use the soap a little clearer (we noticed too many suspicious teeth marks on the soap), dissipating Gale’s necrotic aura when it should (scary vibes), and making sure Jaheira doesn’t Will stop following parties after long breaks (she just needs longer breaks).
“Also, by popular demand,” Larian added, “you can now turn on the Honor Mode mechanic in your Custom Mode game! Select the option in the ruleset drop-down menu and you can enjoy new and exciting Combat mechanics without the stress of Honor Mode.
