The movie version of Shadow the Hedgehog is coming to Sonic
Yesterday at Sony’s latest PlayStation State of Play, Sega showed off some additional Sonic ’s events in the third film – there’s even a character voiced by Keanu Reeves. Although short, the DLC looks very interesting, and Shadow’s model has been made to resemble his counterpart in the movie. Considering that movie stars rarely do such video game voice work, Reeves’ voice work for this version is outstanding. Quite unexpected. But interestingly, in a post on the official PlayStation blog, series producer Shun Nakamura said that most developers didn’t even know that Reeves would be voicing the DLC’s Shadow.

When asked if there were any interesting stories from working with the Sonic Movie team, Nakamura explained: “Even within Sega, information about the movie was only revealed to a very small number of members, so when we were developing this content, we used The material is very limited and we mainly discussed and collaborated with Mr. Iizuka, who also clearly understands the movie. We haven’t actually seen the final scenes from the movie yet, so we’re excited to see what our game ends up with. How close to reality.
When working with Reeves, Nakamura went on to explain that it was “an extremely secretive process, so when we started implementing the sound in the game, we didn’t actually know who the voice was. The recording was handled by Iizuka ——san is in the United States, so when we received the recorded voice file, we felt like, is this the actor…? So we were also surprised when Paramount announced it!
The DLC Movie Pack will launch on December 12th, a full week ahead of the movie’s release on December 20th, and is already included in the Digital Deluxe Edition of Sonic X Shadow Generations.
