Web3 game publisher Treasure has announced the release of its latest game, Warlock, Paper, Scissors.
Scheduled to launch in early 2025, the game combines turn-based strategy with battle royale and extraction gameplay elements, making it stand out in the blockchain gaming space. Warlock, Paper, Scissors features a synchronized turn-based mechanic designed to provide strategic depth without relying on randomness, instead focusing on skill and tactical foresight.
The game also emphasizes community participation, offering tools to create custom maps, skins, and abilities.
What is Warlock Paper Scissors?
“Warlock Paper Scissors” is a 2D competitive strategy game where players compete for the central crystal and escape the map, or defeat all opponents to win.
Gameplay uses a synchronized turn system where all players lock in their actions at the same time, and once the decision is finalized, the actions are displayed in sequence. This design requires players to anticipate their opponent’s strategy and plan multiple steps in advance.
There is no random element in the game in order to prioritize skill and strategic thinking. Matches are designed to be fast-paced, providing players with a balance of action and tactical depth. Players can also take advantage of various fantasy abilities during matches to increase their chances of success.
Free digital collection cartridge
Treasure is building Warlock Paper Scissors on its proprietary Layer 2 blockchain, developed using ZKsync technology. The move follows the publisher’s move away from the Arbitrum platform and is intended to improve scalability while maintaining Ethereum compatibility. The game will use the $MAGIC cryptocurrency for transactions within the ecosystem.
One of the game’s standout features is its moddability, allowing players to create custom maps, skins, and potentially new abilities, promoting user-generated content and expanding gameplay possibilities. Treasure also plans to support competitive play, with potential tournaments and prize pools under development.
To celebrate its launch, Treasure will make collectible NFTs (called cartridges) available for free until December 31, 2024, with further updates including plans for public beta testing and community events expected to be released soon.
