Web3 gaming platform Treasure has launched its own Ethereum layer 2 extension network through ZKsync, abandoning the Arbitrum previously used.
The platform is designed to meet the specific needs of games and enhance the ecosystem with features tailored for developers and players.
To commemorate its launch, Treasure launched the “Decentralized Entertainment System: Cartridges” event, featuring daily NFT minting based on games within its ecosystem.
Why did Treasure switch to ZKsync?
Treasure decided to transition to ZKsync after evaluating its technical requirements.
While the company initially planned to continue using Arbitrum, advances in ZKsync’s capabilities, including account abstraction and elastic network interoperability, prompted the change.
“After extensive evaluation before launching Layer-2, we found that ZKsync’s technology is perfectly aligned with our vision to fundamentally change the gaming industry,” said Treasure co-founder Kavel Vuong. “This transformation is not about what was before; What’s right for Treasure’s future as we scale.”
What can we expect from this new blockchain?
Treasure’s new network is part of the ZKsync elastic chain, which is a collection of interoperable zero-knowledge summary chains. The platform’s $MAGIC token will serve as the native currency, and more than 15 games, NFTs and tokens will be migrated from Arbitrum using the Hyperlane bridge.
The network includes features such as gas-free transactions, social account creation, and infrastructure designed for the game economy. These updates are designed to enhance Treasure’s in-game exchange system, which facilitates in-game asset trading, liquidity provision, and rewards.
In addition, the Treasure Development Kit will simplify blockchain integration for game developers by reducing the need for extensive smart contract knowledge, opening up new possibilities for game design and functionality. Players can also log in using email, social accounts or crypto wallets enabled by ZKsync’s account abstraction feature.
future development
Treasure’s mainnet has been launched, and multiple games are expected to be launched on the network by the end of this year, with more games planned to be launched in the first quarter of 2025.
Confirmed titles include wanderer, It will be launched exclusively on Treasure, Dear friends, A monkey-themed MMO that incorporates on-chain mechanics, and west sea, It already uses a game exchange system.
The platform is also in discussions with developers of other games, including action role-playing games disaster, It is transitioning from Ethereum’s Base Layer-2 network.
