Sony has announced the latest content for PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium this month, which includes three classic games from the PS2 era: TimeSplitters, Time Splitters 2 and TimeSplitters: Future Perfect.
All three games will be coming to PlayStation Plus Premium on Tuesday, August 20, along with 12 other games already announced. As part of the recent PS2 emulation push, the TimeSplitters series will likely become available for purchase individually for anyone who wants to own them outright. They will likely be supported by trophies as well. However, none of these things have been officially confirmed in a PlayStation.com blog post.
“TimeSplitters is a popular PS2 first-person shooter series that plunges players into an epic battle against the evil TimeSplitters, a race of people who live outside of time and space,” Blog about TimeSplitters 1 Say so.
Sadly, it seems we’ll never see another TimeSplitters game. Embracer briefly brought back developer Free Radical with the goal of creating a new game in the series, but the studio shut down last year before it had a chance to release a single project.
“Sword Art Online: Lost Song” will join “TimeSplitters” and become the last game in the Premium series, but this PS3 game can only be played through streaming.
