Meta is rolling out the ability to tag your location on your Threads posts. If you have this feature, you’ll see a pin in the post-production editor that you can click to include your location.
Please note that adding your location to a Threads post does not share the exact pin on the map. Instead, this feature lets you give users an idea of your location by sharing information like a city name, neighborhood, or restaurant. If you see a topic post that includes a location, you can click on that location to see other posts from the same location.
I have this feature and I’ve been fiddling with it. When I click on a pin in the post editor, Threads presents me with a series of options: I can keep a broad selection by tagging myself in Portland, Oregon (where I live), or I can start with something more Select a specific location. If you’ve tagged your location in an Instagram post, Threads’ approach should feel very familiar.
Threads’ location tagging feature currently appears to be only available on the mobile app; I have it on iOS, but I can’t see it on the web. Hopefully it won’t be long before it appears in desktop browsers.
