A new Darksiders game is officially in development, THQ Nordic confirmed during a presentation event today.
The trailer shows a cave illuminated by a charred council shouting, “Cavalry!” before text pops up informing us that we should “get ready to ride again.”
It’s unclear whether this is Diablo 4 or another spin-off game in the vein of Darksiders Genesis. All we know is that the game is being developed by Gunfire Games, the same studio that brought us the rather lackluster Darksiders 3.
If it’s Darksiders 4, then it opens up some possibilities: Strife will be the protagonist, since he’s the only one of the Four Horsemen to not have a starring role in the mainline entry, or it’ll be a game that finally brings about the war , a game of death?
We also have to consider the possibility that it’s a remaster of Diablo 3, as the first two games have received the remaster treatment in the past. However, the trailer feels too vague for a remake.
Regardless of the final outcome, I’m excited. The Diablo series holds a special place in my heart, with the second game being my favorite.
