In today’s ever-changing comics industry, there are two universal truths. The first one is dog man is an iconic comic of our time. The second is that more people are reading comics and online comics (also known as vertical comics) than ever before. Therefore, we at Comics Beat chose to embark on a new adventure: Bit’s Bizarre Adventure. Every other week, three authors recommend some of their favorite books and series from Japan, Korea, and elsewhere. This week we have a classic revenge story from a comic book all-star, an unusual take on Wolverine, and of course BL starring an older man.

If any comic was destined to become the basis for classic grindhouse action movies, it was Lady Snowblood go through Kazuo Koike and Kazuo Uemura. This is one of the most violent and erotic exploitation comics ever created specifically for an adult audience (it aired in Playboy in Japan). thank god Lady Snowblood The protagonist is a fully developed protagonist who is cunning and ruthless for a reason that feels very human. This may be a brutal series, but it certainly doesn’t lack humanity.
The heroine’s origin is almost a folk tale. Born in prison, Yuki vows revenge on those who ruined her mother’s life. She undergoes hellish training under the tutelage of Buddhist monks to become the ultimate killing machine. After her training was completed, she wandered around Meiji-era Japan, taking on contract killings and other missions in hopes of luring these monsters.
anyone reading Lady Snowblood back Lone wolf and cubLegendary comics by Koike and the artist Five passes on the small islandwill be shocked. Kojima’s style favors realism and thick, expressive brushwork, while artist Kazuo Kamimura is the complete opposite. his job is Lady Snowblood Prefer the simpler rendering and high contrast black and white. This effect makes the violence, sex, and violence in comics feel all the more shocking even today.
Kamura always paints Yuki expressionless, as if to imply that she is an empty vessel for revenge. This is the expression of the actress Kaji Meiko Characters truly come to life when portrayed in live-action films (and throughout her career). The character realizes that she is the weapon, not just a famous sword hidden in the handle of an umbrella. Her beauty is as deadly as any sword and she will stop at nothing to get the job done.
These two live-action films are probably more famous today than the comics that inspired them. Actress Kaji Mei’s look inspires actresses Lucy Liucharacters in the first kill bill. But comics themselves shouldn’t be ignored. This is a samurai manga created by Kazuo Koike, and the heroine is as ruthless as the hero. Series artist Kazuo Kamimura creates action sequences in a way that no one else can. The comic may be short, but like its protagonist, it’s highly effective and unforgettable. — D.Morris
Wolverine: Scoff!
Writer/Artist: Erpingmian

Publisher: Visualization Zone; originally Marvel
Marvel has tried to bridge the comics market in the past without much success. In fact, much of that period was complicated. But one bright spot emerged. In 2003, as part of Tsunami Imprint, Marvel hired legendary comics creator Erpingmian (Knights of Sidonia, blame!) takes on Wolverine in a limited series called “Wolverine” pant! The show takes Logan to a future where humanity has been nearly wiped out by creatures called Missions. They can regenerate and adapt their bodies to whatever they need to survive. The only thing that can kill them is adamantane.
pant! Straightforward and fast-paced, but Nihei – whose work is always beautiful – draws a lot of cool moments, and his designs for Destiny are weird and weird. This is an interesting book. His Logan, wearing the leather jacket he wore when running New X-Men series, is simultaneously badass and thoughtful. Wolverine is the best at what he does, and he does it because he’s a hero and a good guy.
The other characters introduced in this book, Fossa and her band of survivors, are all very interesting characters. We don’t know much about them, but they’re so well designed that you can’t help but be drawn to them. There’s even a moment near the end that reminded me of a famous scene from the end Mobile Suit Gundam. Not sure if this was intentional, but regardless I’m glad to see it.
Much of the book follows dispassionate principles, and that’s okay. It’s also a good story that doesn’t take long to read but will make you wish Marvel had given Nihei the keys to another of their characters. Personally, I think Er Ping Mian ghost rider The series is going to be incredible.

Ethan lives in a run-down apartment in a crime-ridden neighborhood, barely scraping by. He has three years left to pay off the debt. When he saw a man across the street being beaten by a mob while drinking coffee one night, he wasn’t worried at all. Then the next day he met the guy at the laundromat. What was the first thing out of Ethan’s mouth? Please tell me how to remove blood stains from a white shirt!
Anyone who knows me online or otherwise will already be familiar with my obsession with older men in BL. I don’t know why it took me so long to read it midnight rain, CTKThe first English version of “A Boy’s Love”. But I’m glad I did it. (CTK also has a vertical scrolling comic on WEBTOON called coffin jackson.)
most striking aspect midnight rain is its depiction of the consequences of chronic loneliness. Ethan and his new “friend” Mike both live a hard life with no one to rely on. Although their situations are similar, Ethan and Mike’s feelings of loneliness are different. While I would have liked to see more of Mike’s past elaborated upon and see more of their daily lives after the story ends, that’s just because I love these characters and their dynamic.
midnight rain is a well-crafted, touching, and bittersweet one-volume comic. Its male protagonists find their way to each other and choose to be together, no matter what life throws at them. The intimacy and tension in the sex scenes bring the characters to life, once again proving CTK’s proficiency in drawing expressive faces and bodies. I wholeheartedly recommend you give this series a chance so the publisher can give us more BL starring desperate, clingy old men! — Melvi Guire
