Nutribullet’s new Flip blends the blender into an insulated stainless steel mug that looks no bigger than a typical travel mug. If you don’t have enough time in the morning to mix up breakfast, the rechargeable Flip can be used anywhere you don’t mind making a little noise. (Maybe skip the crowded subway.)
The $99.99 Flip isn’t Nutribullet’s first single-serve blender, nor is it the company’s first rechargeable blender. What sets it apart from past products is that the blender components, including the blades, 11.1-volt electric motor and rechargeable battery, are all integrated into the Flip’s lid rather than into a removable base.
When fully charged, the Flip can run 30-second mixing cycles for more than 14 times before needing to be plugged back in via the USB-C charging cable. Seven minutes isn’t a lot of time, but it should be enough to prepare a drinkable breakfast or lunch later in the day.
You can add any ingredients you want in a 20-ounce glass. Nutribullet claims the Flip’s motor is powerful enough to blend ice, fresh ingredients and “most” frozen fruit. But it also warns against using heated ingredients as they may cause internal pressure to build up, causing the lid to force open or completely separate from the glass.
Once filled, attach the lid to the insulated glass and before mixing, turn the entire container upside down so the contents fall onto the chopping blades. It’s also worth pointing out that the Flip itself weighs 3.45 pounds. By comparison, a 20-ounce Yeti mug weighs just over a pound. Adding ice cubes and frozen fruit will give you a real kick when carrying it.
When finished, the lid can be placed on for pouring or drinking. The best feature is that when the Flip is empty, it can be easily cleaned by filling it with soap and water and then running a mix cycle. What are you No All you want to do is submerge the Flip in water or put it in the dishwasher, since the USB-C port isn’t waterproof.
