Luke Skywalker has flown X-Wings and A-Wings over the years, but have you ever seen him in a mecha suit? With this LEGO set, you can imagine how different Star Wars would be if Skywalker piloted an “X-Wing” suit equipped with an oversized lightsaber. This is one of more than a dozen new LEGO Star Wars sets launching this week. Not only is it one of the coolest new kits in the range, it’s also one of the cheapest, priced at just $16.

The mech’s design is inspired by Luke’s X-Wing starfighter, with articulated hands, arms, legs and feet, a cockpit that includes a minifigure, and an adjustable X-Wing jetpack. There’s also a buildable nail gun for when you need to bring uncivilized weapons into battle.
As mentioned, there are a range of other LEGO Star Wars sets launching this week, in case you want to buy more. Some of them are very creative, like the 1,579-piece Dark Falcon set, which reimagines Star Wars heroes as villains and gives them a sleek new spaceship to explore the galaxy with. Plus you get a Darth Jar Jar Binks minifigure, so this is the best LEGO Star Wars set of the year.
Another great-looking set is the 558-piece Jedi Desert Skiff and Sarlacc Pit. If Return of the Jedi is one of your favorite original trilogy movies, then this small diorama is a must-have as it features Luke Skywalker and Boba Fett minifigures, Jabba the Pilot’s ship dinghy, and a buildable model The Sarlacc Pit’s gaping maw is large enough to fit a Mandalorian.
For something more recent, you can recreate the final duel from the Star Wars: Ahsoka TV series, and for something really cool, check out the 1,932-piece LEGO Star Wars Ultimate Collection TIE Intercept device. The TIE Interceptor was released as a LEGO Store exclusive on Star Wars Day earlier this year and is now available on Amazon for $230.
