Movie review:
- Gimly: I liked a lot of things in this movie that I didn’t expect, and I didn’t like a lot of things that I thought I’d be into, making it a pretty middling experience on average. I didn’t like The Strangers: Prey at Night, but I enjoyed it and will watch it again one day.
- _Final Rating: ★★½ – There was a lot that appealed to me, but it didn’t quite work overall.
- Key-Si: That’s what I call a surprise. After I thought the first “Strangers” was pretty good, I didn’t have high hopes for the sequel. The first one at least had Liv Tyler, right? “Stranger Things” doesn’t have a bigger cast, except maybe Martin Henderson, but as the director of “The 47 Meters Down” and “The Other Side of the Door” I really enjoyed this movie. And after seeing him pick up the second one here, I’m curious. And he did. I loved the whole family and felt the tension build as everyone got into trouble. The Killers basically did what they did in the first film, so stayed true to the source material, and then we got an amazing 80’s soundtrack throughout the movie. Heck, we could almost watch Bonnie Tyler’s “Total Eclipse of the Heart” in its entirety while sitting there with our eyes glued to the screen because you don’t want to miss a single detail. These are some really great directors, and for that reason, I enjoyed this sequel even more than the first. This is a huge compliment to the entire cast and crew. Keep up the good work!
