and tornado In theaters this weekend, I thought it would be cool for you to take a look back at the making of the original 1996 film tornado.
Below you’ll find a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the film, narrated by the late narrator bill paxton. The film also includes a featurette titled “Anatomy of a Twister” and a documentary revisiting the film titled “Chasing The Storm: Twister Revisited.”
If you’ve never seen these before, they’re worth watching and seeing how the original film was put together.
“Twister” tells the story of Dr. Jo Harding, a dedicated, fearless storm chaser, and her estranged husband, Bill Harding. · Harding is also an experienced meteorologist.
When an unprecedented series of powerful tornadoes threaten to wreak havoc across Oklahoma, a couple on the verge of divorce must join forces. Their mission is to deploy a revolutionary device called “Dorothy” that can collect vital data from tornado centers that could significantly improve warning systems for severe weather events.
As they race against time and the elements, Joe and Bill’s passion for their work rekindles their relationship even as they face their own inner demons and past trauma related to the tornado that destroyed Joe’s family years ago.
The film was directed by Jan de Bont and featured special effects that were groundbreaking for the time.
