If you’re one of the many people who didn’t like the way God of War Ragnarok dished out helpful hints when it thought you needed it, and the PC port struggled to offer an option to reduce the number it dished out, it seems you’re in luck. There is now a mod that provides some anti-prompt core options by eliminating over 1,000 lines of companion chatter.
You may recall that the sheer amount of hints provided in Ragnarok caused some discussion when the game was released – you know the kind – with some players feeling that the game was a little too heavy-handed and too fast in its puzzle-solving. Like all the arguments about yellow paint being used to represent climbable structures and ledges, it’s a bit of an immersion vs. accessibility issue, and it’s certainly not just people yelling at each other about video games on the internet Call.

Well, modder Mophead01 is clearly in the “don’t do my job” camp and has now created a mod called “Please Shut Up” which “removes over 1500 pointless/arrogant lines from Ragnarok” Voice lines”.
“A lot of this handheld dialogue can be incredibly annoying, so I created this mod to try to completely remove the bloat from most of the dialogue and let players think for themselves,” the modder wrote. “Please keep this mod in mind This is a work in progress and it will take a long time to recognize these voice lines, so more conversations will be filtered out in future patches.
“I’ve removed over 1,500 lines of speech from the game so far, but there are more to come. For the current version, I’m mainly focusing on combat dialogues because they are very prominent in the game and easy to recognize. Unfortunately, with Puzzle-related dialogue is often intertwined with story/cut-scene dialogue, making it more challenging to identify them, which will be my focus in future versions if this mod is popular enough.
Mophead01 did acknowledge Santa Monica Studio’s efforts to give players an option to downplay puzzle prompts – via an option in the Game Settings tab of the PC port, and the developer also revealed plans to bring it to consoles “soon” . However, they claimed that “from my observations, this does not help much to solve the problem.”
So far, the mod has gotten rid of more lines of dialogue than “Shut Up Aloy,” a mod for Horizon Forbidden West that “silenced over 900 lines” hinting at Nora Chatter and puzzles thrown up by the robot hunters. Examples such as “Solution to the Svartalfheim Geyser Puzzle” were given during this period.
