Why it’s cool: Okay, so this is the only less creepy book on this list, but I think this weekly story about the denizens of the Phantom Zone is pretty scary in nature. It’s also very well done and is a great classic feeling Superman comic that’s big and fast moving.

Why it’s cool: The book’s central thesis is – Hey, autumn is weird, right? It explores the thesis through some excellent comic artwork and storytelling. EM Carroll’s story is a particularly wonderful conclusion to this very large series.

The anthology features three new chilling stories from Simone, with art by Carola Borrelli (Bouquet, Spider-Woman), Ellie Fair (Trick of the Light) ) and Marianne Ignazi (“Buffy the Vampire Slayer”).
Why it’s cool: Led by Gail Simone’s stellar script, this special one-shot recreates the classic British horror character Misty. Every story in this book is great, and if I had to choose a must-read Halloween comic, I would choose this one. Don’t miss it.

Poison Ivy/Swamp Thing – Wild Tree #1

Why it’s cool: No bad problems occurred poison ivy since writer G. Willow Wilson She and her collaborators took on the book a few years ago, and this week’s Swamp Thing team-up is no different. This isn’t just a spooky Halloween week release. This book also raises the themes of the excellent series it spawned.
