In celebration of Hobbit Day, Warner Bros. Pictures has released a new poster for the next Lord of the Rings film, the animated feature The Battle of the Rohirrim.
The poster shows the character Hera front and center. Hera is the daughter of Helm Hammerhand (played by Brian Cox), the ninth king of Rohan, and is voiced by Gaia Wise. The film is set 200 years before the events of Peter Jackson’s “Lord of the Rings” series. Jackson is an executive producer on “Losire,” which is directed by Kenji Kamiyama (“Ghost in the Shell”).
The poster also confirms that the film is labeled “Peter Jackson Presents,” seemingly to tell fans that the mastermind behind the live-action series is also involved in the project.
All of Middle-earth knows the story of the War of the Ring. But 200 years before that, there was an even older story. #Lord of the Rings The Battle of Rohirrim – available on December 13th only. pic.twitter.com/V3nuKyNVnw

If “Battle of the Rohirrim” doesn’t sound like your cup of tea, Warner Bros. is pushing ahead with multiple “Lord of the Rings” movies, starting with one tentatively titled “The Hunt for Gollum.” Andy Serkis will return to play the character and direct the film, which is expected to be released in 2026.
September 22nd is Hobbit Day, celebrating the shared birthday of Frodo and Bilbo Baggins. In addition to the release of this new Battle of Rohirrim poster, the release date for the next Lord of the Rings game, Legend of the Shire, was also announced.
