The latest trailer for “The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom” shows that the influence of “Breath of the World” will even spread to 2D games

Nintendo surprisingly released a new trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom today, and it’s clear how much influence Breath of the Wild has had on it.

Back in June, Nintendo released its latest Zelda game just a year after Kingdom Tears, but this time, the titular princess is finally the star of her own game. Today, Nintendo released a new trailer for Crossing Hyrule, giving a closer look at some of the places you’ll visit this time around, as well as another ability Zelda will have, and who will be traveling with her Another companion. Gerudo will appear in a 2D Zelda game for the first time, appearing as always in the Gerudo Desert, a place full of mystery.

The Waters of Jabr will feature the Zora Sea and the Zora River, two different types that you may have seen in the first trailer. Hazora is the one you’re familiar with from Ocarina of Time and Breath of the Wild, while Zora River is the Zora from Awakening and other 2D games – this is their first appeared in the game together. The Gorons are back too, in Mount Eldin, but more importantly, the Deku Scrubs are back for the first time since Triforce Heroes.

It’s clear from the first trailer that Echoes of Widsom’s game design borrows from Breath of the Wild’s “try it with your toolset and see what happens” mentality, but the impact is bigger than It seems even more profound at first. In addition to the main missions of the game, there will also be side missions and adventure logs in Breath of the Wild.

You do have the option to fast travel when you find certain waypoints, but who cares about that because Zelda will also be able to ride what is probably the cutest horse the series has ever seen (they also let you jump over little obstacles to start)). Using her echo powers to create carrots and even summon a horse is something I really enjoyed.

Finally, the trailer also introduces another ability that Tri will give Zelda, Bind. When you use Bind, you actually connect yourself to interactable objects, letting you move them around, a bit like Kingdom Tears’ Ultrahand. You can also use it on buried treasure or enemies, as well as your echoes, and it looks like it’s going to have a lot of different uses in the game’s puzzles.

The end of the trailer also shows how the rift in the first trailer caused important landmarks around the world to disappear, and it looks like you’ll be able to enter a portal, presumably to save them, clearly reminiscent of the dark world of Nexus Past. It’s clear that Nintendo isn’t doing anything halfway with this game, which makes this Zelda’s solo debut reassuring.

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom will be released on Nintendo Switch on September 26.
