Ryan Coogler and Michael B. Jordan’s first trailer sinner It’s here, with few details, but plenty of fear.
We’ve been hearing bits and pieces about Black Panther director Ryan Coogler’s next project since the beginning of the year, but so far, it’s been a bit of a “he said, she said.” Warner Bros. finally released its first trailer today, and while it doesn’t really clarify everything, the vibe is so strong I don’t care right now. The trailer’s description briefly explains the plot: “Twin brothers (Jordan) try to escape their predicament and return to their hometown to start over, only to discover that a greater evil awaits their return.”

The trailer itself confirms that the film is a period piece, set in the Jim Crow South of the 1930s, and both it and the description hint that something more supernatural is going on, but we’re never directly shown what that is. . It’s pretty much the gold standard for trailers, and while it’s only two minutes long, it doesn’t have much to offer. The rest of the cast appears to be just as strong as Jordan, including Hailee Steinfeld (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse), Jack O’Connell (Ferrari), Umi Mosaku (Passengers), Jaime Lawson (The Queen ), Omar Benson Miller (True Lies) and Delroy Lindo (Da 500).

The film is currently scheduled to be released on March 7 next year, and will be Coogler’s first film since directing “Black Panther: Waganda Forever” in 2022. The film was nominated for five Academy Awards, with one of its stars, Angela Bassett, winning Best Supporting Actress, becoming the first actor in the awards body to do so. This will also mark Coogler’s fifth time working with Jordan, with the actor appearing in all four of the director’s previous films, so I’m looking forward to a great collaboration between the two of them on The Sinner.
