The edgy, Zelda-like Darksiders series is getting a new game, so you better prepare for the apocalypse

Diablo, a slightly edgier take on the Zelda format, is getting a brand new game, but don’t expect too much from it just yet.

It has been six years since the release of the last game in the “Darksiders” series, “Darksiders 3,” which received mixed reviews upon its release. Aside from spin-off Darksiders: Genesis, released a year later, the series almost feels like it’s dead in the water, perhaps because it couldn’t adapt to last-generation consoles. Well, review or not, it doesn’t matter because publisher THQ Nordic announced a brand new entry in the series at its 2024 Digital Showcase, once again developed by Gunfire Games.

It’s important to note that Gunfire Games is led by David Adams, founder of Vigil Games, the original developer of the first two Darksiders games, so it sounds like the series has always been led by those who know it best. reserved by people. An Xbox Wire blog post said of the new game: “Ominous rumbles come from ancient caves. Embers swirl in the air and gush from pools of bubbling lava. Three figures carved from otherworldly stone Cheng’s huge head suddenly bursts into mysterious flames…and the Four Horsemen will ride again.

The trailer you can check out above doesn’t actually show much, it’s just various shots of a lava-filled cave, ending with the aforementioned shot of the charred council, three rocky heads filled with flames, shouting For knights. Still, it’s at least good news for fans of the series (and Connor). THQ Nordic didn’t specify when more content will be shared or even which consoles it will be released on, so stay tuned for more information.
