Well, folks, that wraps up Season 4.

What a wonderful season it was. The Boys Season 4 Episode 8 delivered all the drama, action, and shock value we could have hoped for.

In the bloody and fast-paced finale of The Boys season 4, we finally got answers to some of the questions we’ve had all summer long.

Plus, they keep us in suspense. At least this will give us a lot to look forward to in season five.

Truth be told, Season 2 of Generation 5 will likely address some of the things that just happened, as several characters from The Boys spinoff played a large role in the events of this episode.

But our jaws will be on the floor until Eric Kripke brings us what’s in store for the new season, from the messy finale to the highly anticipated season finale.

Let’s dig a little deeper, shall we?

Shapeshifters, sexual assault and victim blaming in The Boys season 4 finale

First of all, congratulations. Huey and Annie are engaged!

    Unless of course they aren’t.

I will always be a sucker for a co-proposal. It shows how synchronized a couple is.

But in this case, it doesn’t count as mutual, as Hughie finds himself married to a deformed psychopath instead of the woman he loves.

Apparently, Huey soon discovers that shapeshifter Annie is not who she claims to be.

But since he was fooled, of course it is understandable. It’s not often that your romantic partner is suddenly replaced by an evil-looking person.

This got me thinking about the real Anne’s reaction to the whole thing. Frankly, it was weird that she was actually angry at Hughie.

Hughie was indeed sexually assaulted due to mistaken identity, for the second time this season.

Sure, he agreed to have sex with Anne, but if it was done under false pretenses, it doesn’t count.

Anne had no right to act as if Hughie was just a victim of the situation, as she was.

I’m glad she finally came to her senses, but the whole thing really upset me.

Maybe it’s because this is the second time Hughie has been through something like this and he doesn’t get any sympathy.

Of course, I’m talking about the now-infamous scene that took place in Tek Knight’s sex dungeon in The Boys Season 4 Episode 6.

Fans were shocked and upset by the scene, which involved Vought executive Ashley and billionaire superman Tyke Knight doing something to the disguised Hughie that I won’t go into detail here.

Supernatural elements in ‘The Boys’ season 4 finale spark nostalgia

Even more delightfully, we get a gift of nostalgia in the form of some supernatural references.

No, I’m not talking about shapeshifters this time.

President Robert Singer is brilliantly played by the formidable Jim Beaver, who gives us some lines originally spoken by another character brought to life by Beaver.

Supernatural’s grumpy but lovable father figure coined such classic curse words as “Balls!” and fan-favorite insult “Idjit.” (Fun fact: His name is also Bobby Singer from Supernatural!)

President Singer dishing out these quips in The Boys season 4 finale was another way the writers made us feel like we were in for an inside joke.

    Who doesn’t love a good cross-reference?

Butcher’s battle against time continues in ‘The Boys’ season 4 finale

The big picture in the room was that Butcher was finally off the deep end, and now everyone knew it.

It wasn’t just that he killed (read: ripped in half) Victoria Neumann, although that was certainly part of it.

Butcher has now been consumed by the Compound V-induced supervillain that has been growing inside him all season.

He was no longer interested in pursuing the plan with the rest of the Boys.

Instead, he’s taking things into his — well — tentacles.

Obviously, that means there’s an extra battle to fight next season. At this point, I’m afraid no one can fight against it.

After all, the episode ended on a pretty bleak note, with most of the team either being captured or escaping.

    soldier boy, tell them

We finally get to see Soldier Boy, who has been in a cryogenic tank all season.

It’s a real shame because fans were looking forward to seeing Jensen Ackles again.

He made a brief appearance on “The Fifth Generation” and recently guest-starred on the CBS drama “Trackers,” but Ackles has been absent from “The Boys.”

However, as Castiel in Supernatural might say, Homelander seems ready to “hold on to him and save him from destruction.” So we’ll be looking for more of Soldier Boy in The Boys season 5.

While fans miss Ackles, there’s another breakout star this season, and she steals the show.

‘Sisters” strategy pays off in ‘The Boys’ season 4 finale

Sister Sage (Susan Hayward) understands the mission completely.

This is a complex character – she’s smarter than anyone (literally), she’s invincible, and she relaxes through a lobotomy.

Even though it’s weird, she’s still constantly figuring out new ways to accomplish the impossible.

Look, I’m not saying I support what she’s doing. Anyway, I’m not Team Homeland.

But she even said on the show that she just wanted to test her limits.

What she did – ensuring that Singer was gone in the wake of Neumann’s murder and installing a successor loyal to Homelander – was motivated less by her own political motives than by the discovery that her power had How big.

Goodbye in The Boys Season 4 Finale

Now, apparently, The Boys season 4 finale brought a fresh side to murder, and it wasn’t just Neumann’s head on a platter.

Ryan kills Butcher’s CIA agent friend Grace.

Maybe it was an accident; after all, Renne didn’t really know his own strength.

However, this is completely preventable. Why did Grace and Butcher think it was a good idea to corner the kid who accidentally killed someone?

Not only is he powerful to an unknown degree, but Homelander is constantly in his ears, influencing his compassion and desire for control.

It seems to me that there is a way to get Ryan to understand his role in bringing down Walt without making him feel like a rat in a cage.

Annie and Kimiko were covered in blood.Annie and Kimiko were covered in blood.

As we know, the episode ends when new Acting President Calhoun reports to Homelander on behalf of the superdelegates (including some 5th Generation cameos). He ordered them to capture the boys, and one of them managed to escape.

With her powers restored, Annie sets off to do who knows what, while Hughie, Franky, Kimiko, and Mother’s Milk are all captured.

Friends to lovers: OK, I allow it

The bright side is that after four seasons, Noriko has finally found her voice. This proves how much she loves Frenchie.

I’m not usually a big fan of the trope of opposite-sex best friends having to eventually fall into romance, but I can root for Kimiko and Frenchie together.

He was the only one who showed her that he truly understood her. God, he was the only one who’d actually talked to her in so long.

It’s a lasting love and hopefully they get a happy ending in season five.
