Garth Ennis is ready to cross another comic book adaptation off his list. creator, its priest and boys has been adapted into a television series and has written screenplays for film adaptations of his comics cross. Now independent company Six Studios has acquired the script and intends to provide funding and support for the film.
cross The story takes place in a world plagued by an epidemic, in which cross-shaped rashes appear on the faces of those infected. Those who are tortured follow their worst impulses – think zombie apocalypse, but instead of zombies, these people are humans who have retained their intelligence, but are murderous maniacs.
The original 10 issues that inspired the film were published between 2008-10, but the series has spawned over 200 issues from various writers and artists, including the likes watchman Scribe Alan Moore.
Studio Six is currently looking for a director for the project, and they expect a salary of between $2 million and $3 million, though that number could go up for the right talent. Production is scheduled to begin in the fall.
Carl Choi of Six Studios will produce along with Ben Hung of Retro Entertainment and Ken Levin of Nightsky Productions. Hung and Levin developed the project with Ennis and brought the property to six studios. Six Studios’ Jeff Wong will executive produce alongside Ennis, Carl Amari and Bill Patterson.
Amazon’s adaptation of Ennis’ comic book The Boys has become one of the most popular comic book shows of the decade, with Amazon saying its fourth season was one of the most-watched TV shows ever on the service. It has spawned multiple spin-offs and will conclude with its fifth season. priestAt the same time, starting from the 2016-19 season, the event has been running for four seasons.
Studio Six’s Choi said the script was an intimate, human story. “This is the most faithful adaptation,” Cui said, likening it to infect meet The Walking Deadwith a hint of Alex Garland civil warbecause it’s a road movie through a ravaged America.
Studio Six is also in development Legend of the Splinter War For TV, it’s lagging behind Curse of the Sin-EaterSamuel Goldwyn acquired the company in October.
