With more readers than ever reading comics and Webtoons (aka Vertical Scroll Comics), Beat’s “Singular Adventure” has a weekly chance to recommend some of its favorite books and series from Japan, Korea and elsewhere. In the 50th issue of the column, we have the Lizard, the Sexy Demon King and the Birth of Gekiga. Also, Justin Guerrero wrote about bionic fakes.

Start with the way these stories are often done. “One morning, I woke up,” said a boy named Yuhi, “there is a lizard in my room.
