You might not know it at first glance, but the open world survival game once human Features a powerful weapon crafting and customization system. Let’s be honest: You can’t survive the apocalypse with just a baseball bat or a machete.
Taking out otherworldly creatures requires something more sophisticated, like a fully automatic submachine gun or light machine gun. To get one of these, you’ll need some gunpowder. And for once humanFor gunpowder, you need to obtain acid. It’s an endless loop and you’ll have fully utilized resource nodes by the end of the game.
To make your journey easier, here’s how to get acid using a variety of methods, including a passive farming solution that provides a hands-off approach after the initial setup!
Where can I get acid in the early game?
You won’t be able to farm large amounts of acid until late in the game. At that point, you’ll unlock various technologies that allow you to sift acid from contaminated water, but more on that later.
Early on, the best way to get acid in the early game is to kill enemies. Several enemy types in low-level areas drop acid, including:
- gnawer
- burnt madman
- Light
You’ll most likely encounter a Giteer or a Scorchmaniac, with the former always dropping a handful of acid upon death.
Alternatively, you can grab junk items from crates, dumpsters, and enemies and bring them back to base. Once you’ve unlocked and built the demolition bench, stuff it with anything you don’t need
Items inside and have it crush everything into usable materials. One of the ingredients is acid!
How to Passively Grow Acid
Growing acid doesn’t always need to be a hands-on activity. once human Allows you to farm acid passively. To do this, you must first find some contaminated areas.
Some areas in the game are marked as contaminated, although their level and accessibility vary. Some potential locations can be found nearby:
- greywater campground
- Lone Wolf Wasteland

To start passively farming acid, you must unlock the following items:
- water pump
- reverse osmosis purifier
- Fermentation (brewing) barrel
First, place the water pump into the contaminated water and then start the device to ensure it can fill the reverse osmosis purifier. As this process proceeds, impure acid is produced.
Unfortunately, Impure acid is not sufficient to make gunpowder and ammunition. You must use fermentation (brewing) barrels and purified water to refine the impure acid.
Once all is said and done, you will have a semi-automatic process for growing acid once human. It takes some setting up – crafting and polishing – but it proves to be well worth it when you have enough ammo to push the end-game content to avoid the end of the world!
