A look at the best MacBook deals for Prime Day in early October:
Amazon has great MacBook deals all year round (more than any other laptop type), but during certain sitewide sales, select products are discounted especially deeply. Next up is Prime Big Deal Days, the retailer’s “October Prime Day” promotion open to members on October 8 and 9, which could see significant price cuts across Apple’s product line ahead of a possible M4 refresh.
Ahead of the event, things are going as expected: Amazon is discounting most MacBooks from the M2 and M3 generations, and two of our favorite models are currently at all-time low prices. That would be the M2 MacBook Air and M3 MacBook Pro; we think they’re the most affordable MacBook and the best MacBook for video editing, respectively.

It’s hard to see these variants getting cheaper once Prime Big Deal Days officially begins, but wary shoppers may want to hold onto their purchases until then in case Amazon decides to drop prices further. Regardless, we’ll be keeping an eye on them over the next few days, as well as keeping an eye out for competing deals from other retailers. (Best Buy will host a 48-hour flash sale during Prime Big Deal Days.)

The 13-inch MacBook Air, launched in mid-2022, won the Mashable Choice award and combines “[rock]Tech and gaming reporter Alex Perry wrote that “battery life is solid,” “the keyboard is addictive, and the horsepower is enough to handle everyday tasks with ease.” Cheap.
You can get the base configuration with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage for $749, which is a $250 discount from the MSRP of $999. If it’s sold out on Amazon, check it out at Best Buy: it’s a matching deal at the time of writing.

The latest 14-inch MacBook Pro features an M3 chip that supports hardware-accelerated ray tracing for rendering realistic lighting, a bright 120Hz mini-LED display, a large number of ports (including an SDXC card slot), and a battery life that lasts for more than 16 minutes of battery. Here’s another Mashable Choice Award winner.
All configurations of the 14-inch M3 Pro are now on sale on Amazon at all-time low prices (including the base model, which is currently only $1,299). However, we prefer the beefed-up version with 16GB of RAM and 1TB of SSD storage: if you plan to use it for multitasking and/or creative work, the extra RAM is necessary. Normally priced at $1,999, now only $1,699, a savings of 15%. Note that Best Buy is technically $100 cheaper, but it’s only available to paying members of the My Best Buy program.
