Is it just me, or do I think these two hours of Bachelorette drama are too much?
When Matt dropped in and Jesse accosted him in the hotel lobby, I had almost forgotten all about Sam N. slamming the door out.
There’s a lot going on every week!
That being said, this might be the greatest episode yet, if only because the two one-on-one dates were so opposite, Sam N. fell completely out of favor, and ex Matt conveniently showed up to inject some drama .
let’s start!
We set off with the rest of the group and Jenn to New Zealand, another beautiful country that everyone was excited to visit. There is a lot to be said about bucket list topics.

There’s a weird little filler sequence where Jen and Jesse get a ridiculous amount of delicious-looking food, and Jesse says he ruined the series’ food forever, okay.
Jenn then surprised the guys, who all crowded into two booths and acted like they wanted to hang out with each other. Then, she took Sam M. away for her first one-on-one conversation.
Side note: Devin and Sam M.’s beef is starting to get old, but Devin kills me every time he mentions one of Sam M.’s catchphrases because he’s right.
This man is a living inspirational quote, but not enough of it!
Jenn and Sam M. had a private table inside the Sky Tower and Jenn was really worried about the two of them having only sexual chemistry, and so was I.
They were flirting vigorously when they saw people skydiving outside, prompting Sam M. to sign them up immediately, while Jenn clearly wanted no part of it.
Look, they obviously went to that place to stage this exact scene, but Sam M. took the anti-Marcus approach and basically told Jenn, laughing, that you’re going to jump off this building with me!
Jenn wasn’t impressed, as she should have been because he was a giddy little kid and Jenn was thinking about her whole life while the man just stood there and giggled.
It took him a long time to realize that Jenn wasn’t trying to be cute, and she really didn’t want to before he comforted her.
All Jenn wanted was for him to understand her feelings and sympathize with her, which he did, but should it have taken that long?
They end up jumping around, kissing, and drinking some champagne, and it feels very anticlimactic.
Back at the hotel, the guys get their date cards and everyone leaves except…DEVIN! I just know those guys were excited!
Back to Jenn and Sam M., their date had a nighttime component, and it was understandable that Jenn wanted to connect with Sam M. on a deeper level.
She went much deeper than he did, although he did open up about his previous engagement, which was enough to show that Jenn was ready for marriage.

She likes Sam M., which is fine, but their relationship still feels more about attraction than substance.
It’s only week four, but you’re getting to that point in the season where numbers are dwindling and you either have that connection or you don’t.
I could see Jenn and about six or seven of these guys before Sam M.
Sam M. got the rose and all was well with Mr. “Keep The Main Thing The Main Thing.”
The group date was fun as the lads all dressed up in rugby uniforms. I love that this happens in the middle of the Olympics because did you see the final between Fiji and France? That’s crazy!
Before they start practicing, there is a beautiful Maori haka performance, which is just the beginning of our appreciation of Maori culture throughout the hour.
Then it was time to beat each other up and run around in a manly way, which these guys loved, but Sam N. woke up that morning a changed man, with a bad guy spirit, willing to do whatever he had to Do things to stand out.
The guys are confused and have no idea where the shy, love-struck virgin has gone or where this new guy is from, but he’s trying to stand out in the field of men that Jenn clearly prefers, and I can even respect that A little if it’s cringe worthy.
There’s a slight reprieve from the action with the 840,349th conversation between Sam M. and Devon, who get nowhere because they hate each other, but the producers keep having them talking about each other.
The game of rugby is the game of rugby and players are going to chase it and good for them.
Marcus was injured, Sam N. was all over the field, like the spirit of some great football player whose name I didn’t know had taken over his body, and the blue team won without any fanfare.
The cocktail party gets off to an awkward start because Sam N. is losing it. I want to feel sorry for him because he’s out of his element, but he’s also an adult so alas, I’m unimpressed.
It’s crazy to see some things, like the conversation between Jenn and Sam N., when Jenn can barely muster any emotion, to see him walk away so obviously happy.
He just doesn’t look into any room he’s in, and those guys are a little harsh on him. They were also unhappy with his attitude, which got even worse when he showed up as Danny Zuko cosplay.

Jenn had much better chats with Jonathan (who is getting nicer to me and has great chemistry with Jenn), Grant, and Marcus, who felt so vulnerable in her presence that he felt better than most on the show More real.
Thomas N., following his good friend Sam M., decided to pull Sam N. aside and introduce himself to him.
But he should realize that this Sam N. doesn’t care about anyone but himself, and his pride loudly says he’s going to marry Jenn and Jenn herself, in that order.
Jenn and Thomas N. were chatting and Sam N. interrupted, which was awkward – unlike Devin. Maybe that’s because you know Jenn actually wants to spend time with Devin.
After being alone with Jenn again, Sam N. comes out and asks for a kiss, but oh no. Oh no, no, no.
Jane had to break his heart, and she did it in the best way possible. Sam N. handled it well, but he had to know that the resonance wasn’t resonating.
Back at the party, Jenn nonchalantly tells the boys that Sam N. has to go, then gives an emotional Marcus his group date rose. I say for the hundredth time, front runner.
Now it’s Devin and Jenn’s date time. Do I like German?
To be fair, I’ve never liked Devin, and when the episode isn’t entirely centered around him and people hating on him, he’s a likeable guy.
Dare I say, he and Jenn have the best chemistry on the show.
They went to learn more about Maori culture and it was indeed a wonderful date.
It also tells how she and Devin went on an intimate, personal date while she and Sam M. sat in a building together and then jumped off the building.
I’m just saying.
Jenn and Devin shared a lot during the day and night of their date, and it was obvious that they really liked each other and had a good understanding of each other.
The guy can attack Devin all he wants, but Jenn seems to get his point, and more importantly, she likes what she sees. Too bad, kids.

Devin says he’s in love with Jen, she blushes, and Devin isn’t going anywhere.
We’re supposed to get to the rose ceremony now, but Jesse shows up dramatically, talking about Jenn’s ex, that he flew all the way to New Zealand to win her back, and the way Jesse explains the situation doesn’t sound romantic at all.
The poor guy couldn’t even check into the hotel and Jesse would be like, “Dude, what are you doing here?”
Matt is that ex who doesn’t want to date you, but when they realize you might be gone for good, they show up and ruin everything. It’s like they smell your happiness and it has to end.
Jenn was surprised by Matt’s words because it sounded like he had plenty of time to confess his feelings to her when she wasn’t on TV, but he didn’t.
Inviting him to join the others sounds like a disaster, and I’m going to sit there firmly.
Let me know in the comments how you feel about Matt’s arrival and Sam N.’s burnout!
