The Caitlin/Tayshia drama is only about three days away now, as Caitlin’s clips from the “U Up?” podcast are released this weekend, but it’s safe to say I’m over it. Why? Because in a week we’ll be done talking about this. Maybe less. I think one of the reasons is that Tayshia won’t admit it. The only way this story will continue to circulate is if Caitlin keeps talking about it. She posted on her IG yesterday that she would be returning to Canada next week to be with her family – seemingly to take a break from the hot weather. This is good. She needs it. I hope she avoids social media when she is with her family. I don’t know if she has brand deals or her stuff have Post, but if she doesn’t I won’t post anything for a few days and re-evaluate things going forward. Tayshia hasn’t said anything about the series in over a year, so even if Caitlyn was called out in this interview, I doubt she would respond. By Caitlin’s own admission, this is her brand of making a mess and putting her foot in her mouth. She admits it. Tayshia has also been consistent in not discussing her personal life in public forums. So if she hasn’t said anything in years, I doubt it will bring her out of hibernation. So after today, unless there are more interviews on this issue, my thoughts in the column and podcast today will be the last time you hear me talk about it. There are many more things to cover.

My live stream last Sunday night had nothing to do with any Bachelorette/Bachelorette stuff, because football season is right around the corner and I wanted to give a gambling 101 course to help those interested in sports gambling. I know it can be intimidating to walk into a casino and see all the lines and numbers on the board and have no idea what you’re looking at. I think I did a good job explaining it. If you missed it, check it out:

Don’t forget about tomorrow’s Reader Email, so email [email protected] now with your questions/issues/comments. You can also contact me on Twitter DM or IG. Tomorrow we’ll be talking about “Men Tell All” tonight, but I’m sure the bulk of it will be about what Sam M said on stage. I hope he has some remorse and stops being on the defensive.

The Caitlyn/Tayshia story is still dominating the headlines because it’s been the talk of everyone over the past few days. In case you missed the main part of everyone’s attention, here’s the highlight: her 90-second interview on “U Up?” podcast:

I shared most of my thoughts in my daily roundup yesterday and today, but this is the main thing people need to understand. Just because my point is that I don’t think Caitlin should say this on the podcast, doesn’t mean I’m against Caitlin. This doesn’t mean I’m Team Jason or Team Tayshia either. I don’t even know Jason and have never interacted with him. And Tayshia hates me, so I really have no reason to defend her on anything. And I’m not here. I didn’t condemn her for anything either. As I said before, she’s basically distanced herself from the entire Bachelor Nation for a few years now. Gosh, she’s had a boyfriend for over a year and hasn’t pushed out on him yet, which is pretty impressive in this day and age. So don’t make it a “hatred” for Caitlin or anything like that. My point is she shouldn’t have said that on the podcast. She should be more careful about the parts of her relationship with Zach she chooses to share. period. That’s it. I have had almost no contact with Caitlin in my life. A few emails from a few years ago, and I met her for about 30 seconds a few years ago when she was doing a Spade and Sparrows show at Target 5 minutes from my house. That’s it. This is the biggest story in Bachelor Nation right now. I won’t unfollow her. I won’t call her by her first name. I won’t cancel her. I’m just commenting on what she said on the podcast, I just think it looks bad and she might regret the outcome. I knew she was trying to make a joke. This is not a good thing and does not need to be told.

There are also contradictions in podcasting. Caitlyn has made it clear that she doesn’t want to forcefully push out any boyfriends anymore. She even said on that podcast that she felt she and Jason were actually doing too much to appease their followers and were getting carried away with their social media activity, which is why she wouldn’t want to do that to anyone. She has been with Zach for a while, has never posted with him, never mentioned his name, and has always stood by what she just preached. But then she came on this podcast and basically said some things about her relationship that she thought she would never do. So I don’t understand why she said all of this – and I’m not even talking about the dick-sucking joke. Merely retweeting her private conversation with Tayshia seemed unnecessary. Additionally, we know Caitlin struggles with online trolls and the hate she gets from them every day. She’s always telling people to be nice, be nicer, etc., but in this podcast she talks about some behavior in a joke that makes her come across as petty and mean. She had to know people would react. But there’s a difference between constructive criticism and hate, and I feel like what I’m giving here is constructive criticism, and I’m sure she got a lot of hate from internet trolls. Let’s get this over with. If she bothers you that much, unfollow her. Don’t send her private messages, don’t leave captions on her IG, etc. My advice to her was to take a break from social media when she was with her family. She hasn’t lost her brand. She will not be cancelled. Maybe she’ll lose some followers, but she’ll be fine in the long run. She just needs to be more careful about what she says in public forums, especially When it has to do with her relationships.

Joan’s season of “The Bachelorette” begins on Wednesday, September 18. I just posted your spoilers on social media after announcing them in today’s Daily Roundup. here you go:
