This week you will receive another rather short article. Because “The Acolyte” failed to crack the top 10 of original series “Luminate” streaming charts for the second week in a row, this time it’s episode seven, which is another flashback episode. The last time the series topped the Luminate charts, it had around 220 million minutes watched, the lowest numbers of any Star Wars live-action series to date — and if those numbers are reflected in the Nielsen charts in a few weeks, we’ll be You will know for sure. But the second week’s data matches up very well between the two charts. Therefore, it’s reasonable to assume that we might see very similar trends in the upcoming Nielsen streaming charts. Click through to see some comments about Luminate’s embarrassing performance on the leaderboard.
“The Acolyte” is definitely less than 299.2 million minutes long, and may even be less than 200 million minutes, because it stands to reason that the show may lose more viewers per episode, and Episode 5 only has a measly 220 million minutes. Episode seven is another flashback episode, telling the story of a homesick apprentice and witch who is driven to suicide by the Jedi.
While Andor briefly dropped out of the Nielsen streaming charts, Acolyte is now the first Star Wars series to no longer be around.
Forbes magazine, although its reviewer is one of the journalists who really likes “The Acolyte,” admitted in a recent article that the prospects for a second season are pretty bleak because of poor ratings. Some journalists are at least still living in the real world, unlike the folks at Screenrant, who not long ago had the audacity to claim that Acolyte was the second most successful Star Wars series of all time… and failed to point out that they used some of the stuff from someone data from some websites. Of course, people talk about The Acolyte a lot. Because it’s so bad.
I mention this because certain media outlets keep asking Headland about her plans for a second season. Headland’s response was that it was “in dialogue” with the LFL about the matter. But there’s no doubt these are the exact same conversations Rian Johnson had with them about his make-believe trilogy. Lucasfilm said “no” to Headland. With ratings like these and the price tag attached, only a clinical lunatic would greenlight a second season. Before anyone asks: Ando signed a 24-episode deal a second before the cameras rolled. That’s why we’re getting two seasons despite the first season’s poor numbers. The Acolytes have no such agreement.
Anyway, there’s only one episode left. Luminate will be updating their rankings and updating the season finale next week. It probably won’t make the top ten again.
Acolyte was a huge failure for Star Wars on Disney+. Of course, there would be no consequences, and Kennedy could bury Willow, Indiana Jones, and now Star Wars…. When she’s probably around 80 years old (she’s 70 now), she’ll still be announcing new things. One of the greatest unsolved mysteries in the universe: How someone with so many failures still has a job.
On a positive note, Acolyte will probably only do limited damage since almost no one is watching it and won’t see how Headland tried to deconstruct the Jedi, but failed, because if Episode VII was her attempt She failed utterly in making them look shady or in the wrong. She only succeeds in portraying witches as deranged psychopaths. We’re supposed to sympathize with them and the Sith in this show, and it’s telling that Headland completely fails at that.
Love Island USA on Peacock is the number one streaming show. You’re probably wondering “What? Huh? Never heard of that! Yep, the 919.1 million-minute show is now crushing Star Wars into the ground, another Kathleen Kennedy achievement (it’s a date of sorts) show, so not even a scripted format, but a reality show) Keep in mind that The Mandalorian, even with its somewhat problematic third season, completely crushed the competition and even topped the ratings this year. One of the top streaming shows, but then Ahsoka basically cut that audience in half, and now Acolyte might even cut that down to 25% of Disney’s Star Wars. .
Kennedy’s contract will be renewed in October. Let’s wait to hear about her extension again. Don’t expect her to be fired or forced to retire gracefully.
