In my latest look at retro gaming offerings on the Nintendo Switch, I chose to take a different approach. You see, there aren’t as many unique Game Boy Advance and Nintendo DS ports on the Switch as there are on other consoles. I know, it surprises me too! So they’ll be sharing a list the same way they’ve been sharing it on retail shelves for a few years. While you can find plenty of great games from the Game Boy Advance in the Nintendo Switch Online app, we’re focusing on the ones that dare to exist in the Switch eShop. We’ve got ten of our favorite games here, four from the Game Boy Advance and six from the Nintendo DS. Of course, in no particular order. Keep up the show!

Iron Empire (2004) – Over the Horizon X Iron Empire ($14.99)
We’ll start with a decent little shooter, Iron Empire. While I think the original Genesis/Mega Drive version was the better game, it’s not bad at all. It’s worth playing just to compare to other versions, and it’s definitely a more relaxing experience in some ways. Iron Empire No matter how you play it, it’s a very cool game that even people who don’t usually play shooters will enjoy.
Mega Man Zero – Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Series ($29.99)
Although Mega Man The series began to struggle on home consoles, and the game’s true successor Mega Man The Crown is rising on the Game Boy Advance. Mega Man Zero is the beginning of a series of excellent side-scrolling action games, and this one may not have figured out how to present what it wants to do in the smoothest way. These rough edges will be polished off as the series goes on, but the first game is where you want to start. Feel free to continue from there.
Mega Man Battle Network – Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Series ($59.99)
Yes, I’m double dipping Mega Man here. But I think it makes sense because Mega Man Zero and Mega Man Battle Network are very different types of games, and both are very good at what they do. It’s an RPG with a unique combat system that manages to combine some action with more strategic elements. The core concept of an entire virtual world existing inside an electronic device is a clever one that the game doesn’t do halfway. The rewards of this series are more diminished than Zero, but there’s a lot of fun to be had here.
Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow – Castlevania Premium Collection ($19.99)
Another set, you might just want to run the whole board, but if I had to pick a best one it would obviously be A sad aria. When I’m in a good mood I’d rather play this than an amazing game Symphony of the night. The soul collection system encourages grinding, and the gameplay is so fun that I didn’t even mind. Throw in unusual environments and some interesting secrets, and you’ve got a real winner here. One of my favorite third-party Game Boy Advance games.
Nintendo DS
Shantae: Risky’s Revenge – Director’s Cut ($9.99)
original Santa was a popular game, but its low release meant that relatively few people had the chance to play it. This comes with the DSiWare version Santa: Risky’s Revenge The half-elf hero had a chance to make a bigger splash, and she did. In fact, this elevated Shantae to such high status that she hasn’t missed a console generation since. The game is a bit obscure, as it’s built on the ashes of a Game Boy Advance game that was never released. The strange thing is, That The game is about to be released and may qualify for this list.
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy ($29.99)
Look, if you’re really bothered by the imbalanced list, you could (and maybe should) think of this as a Game Boy Advance game. After all, that was the console it originated from, it just wasn’t localized yet. Anyway, you probably know Ace Lawyer. A fun adventure game that blends field investigation with overly dramatic courtroom scenes. The humor is funny, but the story is great. This first game completely knocked it out of the park, and while I may have preferred the later installments, I can’t argue with anyone who says this is the best game.
Ghost Conspiracy: Phantom Detective ($29.99)
from the creator Ace Lawyer, ghost show Just as well written, but with its own cool gameplay. You are a ghost who needs to use your abilities to save people and focus on finding out the truth behind your own untimely death. This game is a completely insane one and I recommend everyone to play it from start to finish. It was a little dated in the original Nintendo DS version, and I’m glad to see Capcom didn’t abandon it. Reward them for their tenacity.
The World Ends With You: The Final Mix ($49.99)
The world ends because of you Frankly, this is one of the most popular games on the Nintendo DS. Ideally, this is where you should play your game. It’s so tightly built around the hardware and its capabilities that no one port is just right. Despite this, time continues to move forward. If you don’t want to dig up a working Nintendo DS, the Switch version of this game will do the trick and you really should play it somewhere. Why not here? A great game in almost every way.
Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow – Castlevania Dominus Collection ($24.99)
this Castlevania Overlord Collection Just released a while ago, it collects all the Nintendo DS Castlevania game. This is another case where all games are worth playing and I choose sad dawn Simply because replacing its fancy touch controls with more appropriate button controls would lead to significant improvements. But actually, play all three Nintendo DS games in this series. They are all great in their own way.
Etrian Odyssey III HD – Etrian Odyssey Origins Series ($79.99)
This is another franchise that in some ways can’t easily exist outside of the DS/3DS ecosystem. But Atlus made a good attempt here, and I think the result is playable enough. each Etrian Odyssey The games are standalone, and they’re both pretty serious role-playing games. Etrian Odyssey III It’s the largest of the three, and although it’s a little hairy, it’s worth your time.
That’s the list, friends. Do you have a favorite Game Boy Advance or Nintendo DS game on Switch? Feel free to sound off in the comments and let us know what you think! It’s always interesting to hear other people’s opinions on things like this. As always, thank you for reading!
