Who is it suitable for:
Whether you want an Echo smart speaker in every room or just need a smarter alarm clock, the 2024 Echo Spot is built for your bedside. It has programmable routines to get you up in the morning and wind down at night. Plus, it responds to Alexa commands quickly and clearly, so you can play music through the speaker without opening your phone or ask for the weather report while getting dressed.
Why we love it:
The 2024 Echo Spot improves on the shortcomings of previous models to create an easy-to-use, practical and good-looking smart alarm clock. It’s larger than both the Echo Pop and Echo Dot; at 4.5 inches by 4.1 inches by 4.4 inches, it takes up just enough space on your bedside table without overcrowding it.
The upper half of the clock face is slightly sloped and houses a small touch screen. Although we think this is a little So small, it still has vibrant colors. The lower half is a 1.73-inch front-facing speaker, the same as the one in the Echo Dot. This speaker produces clear audio that doesn’t sound too harsh, however, it’s suitable for small spaces – don’t plan on using it at your next party. Alexa can also quickly answer questions and commands, making it easy to turn on a podcast to start your morning.
The alarm clock feature works like any daily alarm clock. Nodding off is easy: tap the top of the device with multiple fingers to rest for a few more minutes. At the same time, turning off the alarm is a bit annoying and requires you to interact with the touch screen. While it works well, having a “stop” button on top would feel more natural.
The touchscreen is quite small, limited to the small rectangular space at the top of the clock face’s half-moon shape. Another big drawback of the Echo Spot comes when you’re playing music or listening to podcasts. When the audio plays, time disappears—a hindrance if you need to know what time it is.
In addition, the Echo Spot is a worthy purchase among the Echo series of devices, as it provides a well-designed smart alarm clock.
