Terry Brooks’ Shannara fantasy series began in 1997 with “The Sword of Shannara”. More than forty years and dozens of novels later, it ends in 2020 with The Last Druid. No matter which bundle you choose, it’s best to read Sword of Shannara first before moving on to other games. This first book in the original trilogy introduces you to the Four Lands and Shay Ohmsford, a young man trying to retrieve the mysterious Sword of Shannara and kill the Warlock Lord.

Shannara has an intricate backstory that drives all the action, including nuclear fallout that destroyed the planet, the rediscovery of magic, and genetic mutations that turned humans into all kinds of fantastical creatures.
