waiting between Deadpool 2 In 2018, Part Three took longer than anyone expected due to the Disney/Fox acquisition and figuring out what to do with the various movies Fox was producing. But after six years and multiple assurances that it would be rated R like the first two films, Deadpool and Wolverine is playing in theaters now, and there’s a lot going on, both good and bad.
For the most part, it received fairly positive reviews. But those who didn’t like it either really didn’t like it or were a little resigned to the film. In some ways, the movie already won when it was revealed that it would bring back Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. Logan Things were pushed as early as 2017. The much-touted fan service featuring appearances by former cast members isn’t for everyone, as is the humor (which, to be fair, has always been a criticism of these films) and its impact on the Marvel Universe and Fox’s decades-long run of comics. For many, this has accomplished the task of rebooting the super franchise, while for others, it’s just another sign of its impending decline and continues to prove that the multiverse saga is a loser. Ultimately, the movie seems poised to make $1 billion, but it will take time to determine its overall impact on the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the superhero scene as a whole.
