Bandai Namco has announced Heihachi Mishima as the next DLC character for Tekken 8 and revealed that, for the first time in the series’ history, a new chapter of the story mode will be added to the game. Additional story content will delve more deeply into the ongoing feud between the Mishima and Kazama families.
The news comes during Evo 2024, when Tekken 8 is a huge draw for players who want to engage in high-level combat and audiences who want to see the best of the best in fighting games. Heihachi is expected to be released in the fall of 2024, following DLC characters Eddy Gordo and Lidia Sobieska (which will be widely available starting July 25).
The story expansion, based on the ongoing “Dark Awakening” storyline, will be free, but publisher Bandai Namco has yet to confirm when it will launch.
Another notable Tekken-related announcement is a partnership with Nike, which includes in-game gear and the Nike Air Foamposite One Kazuya Mishima sneakers. The trailer, which debuted during the Evo 2024 Tekken Finals, showcases various game characters wearing Nike sneakers as well as the iconic branding integrated into the stage.
Meanwhile, the shoe is surprisingly available for purchase via the SNKRS app for Evo attendees. Bandai Namco stated that it will provide more details about the Nike x Tekken collaboration in the future.
