We’ve been following Teacup since the Peacock horror series released its first trailer last month. And the new trailer has us even more excited for this mysterious show.
Teacup is based on the beloved novel by Robert McCammon and comes from Saw director James Van.
So expectations are understandably high, and from what we’ve seen so far, Peacock may have its first true streaming feel.
Sure, “Poker Face” and “Girls 5eva” made waves with critics, but neither generated enough buzz to put Peacock on par with original content giants like Netflix and Max.
But a truly frightening adult horror series just in time for Halloween?
This might be the show the fledgling NBC affiliate has been waiting for.
Teacup tells the story of a disparate group of neighbors in rural Georgia who must band together to fight a mysterious threat in order to survive.
The series stars Yvonne Strahovski, Scott Speedman, Chask Spencer, Kathy Baker, Boris MacGyver, Caleb Dolden , Emily Beale, Luciano Leroux starring.
Wan serves as executive producer, with the series written by Ian McCullough and directed by Al Katz.
The trailer does an impressive job of giving us just enough information to hook us while also retaining enough to keep our curiosity.
McCammon was one of the paperback horror gods of the 1980s and is still supported by an army of devoted fans.
Only time will tell whether McCammon’s loyal fans will be satisfied with this adaptation (or whether “Teacup” will earn the author the King- and Koontz-level praise his fans feel he deserves).
But it’s clear from the trailer that the show won’t skimp on the horror vibe that made the author so popular.
TV fans, what do you think? Does Teacup have the potential to be the hit Peacock has been waiting for?
Or is it just the latest addition to an already overcrowded streaming landscape?
