Bang. Hideo Kojima is back. Okay, back to tweeting a trailer for Death Stranding 2, which included an image of a faceless cast member with a question written above it, imploring people to ask their questions. Questions like who? How about it? What now?
Yes, at 9am on Monday at Gamescom (you may have heard of it), the developers released a teaser image that may or may not hint at anything about the show. One thing’s for sure, fans are pretty sure they’ve figured out which actor plays the character in the trailer.

You can find Hideo Kojima’s latest trailer below, which to my knowledge is the first of its kind released by the director in a while. The marketing for Death Stranding 2 is filled with content like this, the most memorable of which was used here by Kojima Productions.
That is, in this case, it seemed that people took about ten minutes to complete the exercise. No, that’s not Mads Mixon, he’s not in the game. They believe the man Kojima is hinting at is Kenjiro Tsuda, famous for Jujutsu Kaisen and My Hero Academia. Tsuda, of course, also provided the Japanese voice for Norman Reedus’ character Sam Porter Bridges.

Of course, fans on Reddit think this tease could be a hint that Tsuda will be doing full performance capture for his own character in DS2, rather than just providing the voices for a character that someone else did all the motion capture and modeling for, so we’ll have to see whether this will happen.
Inevitably, given the timing, the trailer also sparked speculation among some fans that Kojima might appear at Gamescom this week to share some DS2-related content. I wouldn’t get your hopes up considering the game was last featured at the State of Play in January and PlayStation was absent from the show this year, but you never know. A few years ago, Kojima gave a shout-out to Geoff Keighley when he excitedly told him during his time at ONL that he had a podcast, The Structure of the Brain, coming soon.
