STX Entertainment and Citizen Skull Productions are developing a new bio-horror movie, bigfoot.
In this latest Bigfoot story, “A beast terrorizes a modern housing development in a small mountain town. The attacks leave the town’s new police chief fighting for his daughter’s life.”
The film is directed by John Asher (Diamond) and first-time screenwriter Jordan Reed. The film is scheduled to film this fall in the remote Crystal Mountains of Washington state.
“Moviegoers have been afraid of the water since ‘Jaws’ came out,” Asher said in a statement. “Once they see Bigfoot, they never go into the woods again.
That’s a big claim, but I doubt he can pull it off. There’s nothing truly scary about Bigfoot, and it’s hard to believe he would make Bigfoot scary.
Project producer Mark Myers, president of Citizen Skeleton Productions, added: “When I read the script, I was completely blown away. This movie is very scary. It’s going to keep audiences on the edge of their seats.
Yes, we’ll see. They made such a big deal that I couldn’t believe it. There are very few Bigfoot movies worth your time, and I don’t believe this one is any better.
Interestingly, Arthur’s grandfather is E.M. Arthur, an associate producer on Universal’s iconic monster movies Dracula (1931) and Frankenstein (1931).
