One of J.D. Vance’s main goals during the vice presidential debate seemed to be to try to normalize Trump’s deeply dysfunctional policies and actions.
exist late night show In the clip above, though, Stephen Colbert is having none of it. The host played a clip of Vance arguing that Trump saved Obamacare and that he posed no threat to democracy, then quickly shut it down.
“This kind of sophistry by the junior high debate team is exactly the worst kind of behavior smart people can use to justify evil,” Colbert said before launching into his impression of Vance. “You know, when you think about it, you could say that Godzilla really led the urban renewal of Tokyo. If we had more domestic energy production he wouldn’t have to use nuclear breathing”.
