Warhammer 4o,000: Space Marines 2 Full of high pointsbut one of the lowest came early. At the end of Operation One: Skyfire, you have to defend a cannon against hordes of gargoyles, which is a real pain in the ass. The latest update to the sci-fi shooter should change that.
The mission will take you from trench warfare against the Tyranids on the surface of Kadaku, through a massive megastructure, until you reach the rooftop, fighting off aerial attacks to secure the planet’s last line of defense. It’s a great introduction to the gameplay, and it’s a spectacular sight when you reach the sky and see it filled with baby gargoyles.
But then you’re tasked with defending four target beacons from multiple swarms and ground attacks, while your comrades stare into their Space Marine boots. It’s an unexpected difficulty spike in a game that’s mostly about the simple pleasure of carving up hordes of savage alien thugs, at least if you’re playing alone with AI-controlled allies.
Fortunately, star warrior 2Patch 3.0Released on September 26, it fixes this and many other issues in the game. In addition to PVP boxing arenas, private matchmaking, and ultra-extensive support on PC, the update also brings a number of changes to the AI bots that accompany you in the single-player campaign. The biggest change is that your Space Marine brotherhood will be more active in helping you in battle without stealing too much glory for themselves:
- Various inhibitory restrictions were removed, allowing bots to become more helpful and effective, but still unable to beat the game for the player
- When players attack animal-like animals, bots will now assist them with focused shots.
- Significantly relaxed restrictions on bots taking out enemies instead of leaving it to the player to reduce annoyance.
- Now allows robots to help achieve gargoyle goals
- Fixed various bugs related to bots getting stuck
- Fixed a bug where robots could run out of weapon ammo without a magazine
While this will have ramifications for the entire campaign, developers at Saber Interactive singled out the Gargoyles as a target. Previously, the AI robots would follow you and hesitate even if one of the towers dropped to zero health. Now, they’ll actually join the battle, just like you’re playing with a real person. It’s also interesting to see a “significant relaxation” of restrictions on robots destroying enemies. Brutal finishers are a way to quickly restore your character’s shields during tense battles. I’m curious if this will become more difficult as the robots regain their desire to kill.
The rest of the patch mainly involves bug and map fixes. It also improves the customization options for decked out Marines. Chaos enemy action pattern generation has also been nerfed quite a bit, although elsewhere enemies like Hive Tyrants are becoming more difficult to fight in regular campaigns. More coming soon star warrior 2, Includes new coursesbut it seems like a good set of adjustments so far.
