It has been revealed that Acolyte will be canceled on August 19, just weeks before the end of its first season on Disney+. While it did well with critics, a significant portion of Star Wars fans outright rejected it, giving a lot of bullshit reasons and other complaints that were actually legitimate. Now, the show’s (double) stars, Amandla Stenberg, are finally talking about the cancellation.
According to them (via Instagram), “We’ve faced an onslaught of vitriol since the show was announced, when it was just a concept and no one had even seen it” and that it’s “not a huge deal.” Shocked”. They’re not wrong at all about the apparent hate campaign against the series, regardless of its actual quality, but that doesn’t even begin to explain why it was canceled.

Last week, co-star Lee Jung-jae was much more restrained in his comments: “Honestly, I hope that might change in the future… because you never know what’s going to happen. So on a personal level, I really hope we get to see Lee More stories from Season 2 of course. (Spoilers ahead)he doesn’t care That Ever since his character Master Thor completed his arc and died at the hands of his former apprentice Osha at the end of season one. That said, it makes sense that he’d be very disappointed with the progress of the show he’d spent so much time working on.
Steinberg’s comments also went beyond the hate they and fellow cast members and creator Leslie Headland have received: “That being said, I’m certainly very sad that the show was canceled, and I’m not Being sad makes people more invested in it, and I still feel a lot of relief and joy because I was able to experience it and people loved it and people responded so positively to it. Oisin Kuhnke of VG247 thinks Acolyte has finally reached a cool place, Even though it took a long time to properly start firing on all cylinders I have to echo this sentiment because I only really started to appreciate the show (warts and all) about halfway through.
Jeff Sneider, a well-known Hollywood insider who has always been reliable about Lucasfilm and “Star Wars”, also shared his knowledge of the cancellation of “Acolyte”, saying that the decision was mainly related to the cancellation of “Acolyte”. The low ratings after the double screening are related to the extremely high production cost of “Star Wars”. Long story short: This was a big bet for Disney and Lucasfilm, but it didn’t live up to those high expectations.
Of course, the worst people in the Star Wars fandom will use the cancellation of the series as a personal victory against the “Woke” and all that crap, but ultimately, Acolyte was just a decent show with a lot of cool ideas that just took the It takes too long to get really interesting and takes its ultimate toll. Now we can only hope that Stranger and Osha’s story is completed somewhere, somehow. We’ll even accept comic series!
