Oops, despite the hype, Deadpool & Wolverine seems to have done more or less as poorly with critics as one of DC’s muddled Flash movies.
Last year, Warner Bros. decided to release The Flash movie despite all the wrong reasons. It was supposed to be a massive, multiverse movie that would bring Michael Keaton’s Batman back for a cameo in DC film history, but it was just a disaster, leading to a lot of negative reviews from critics and fans alike. While fans haven’t been able to see Deadpool and Wolverine , Marvel’s first and only movie of 2024, it already seems to be underperforming among critics.

As of this writing, Deadpool vs. Wolverine has a score of 55 out of 100 on Metacritic based on 47 reviews, which doesn’t inspire much confidence. Most of the reviews were actually positive, it’s just that a lot of them were also mixed, plus some outright negative reviews, bringing it down to exactly the same rating as The Flash. It’s worth noting that The Flash’s ratings are based on 55 reviews, so as reviews for Deadpool and Wolverine start to come in, it may start to score a little better.
It’s also worth noting that its performance on Rotten Tomatoes isn’t that bad, as it currently has an 81% fresh rating. The difference here is that this isn’t based on an average score, but on whether the reviews tend to be positive, which drops to 64% if you just look at the top critics on Rotten Tomatoes. Rotten Tomatoes also allows for more smaller critics and sites, so it may better represent fan reaction.
It won’t be long before we find out what fans think, as the movie hits theaters in just a few days, hitting theaters on Friday, July 26th. Feige tried to bring back other big-name Marvel characters, including Iron Man.
