If you play Helldivers 2 and you’re one of the many people who’s intentionally helping the community avoid getting some new anti-tank mines for memetic reasons, then I have bad news. It looks like Arrows are finally getting wise to your game and making a big order to make sure you get them.
For those who don’t know, Hellraiser 2’s anti-tank mines have become a running joke and have essentially completed a marathon at this point. Arrowhead first offered this poor explosive device as an alternative to its rocket launcher back in April, but it failed in this battle and has failed multiple times since in objectives added to the game – including Some Super Earth kids need saving.

Well, now it seems Arrowhead has had enough of the community’s mistreatment of mines and has instituted a major order aimed at ensuring they are finally deployed in players’ inventories before the free upgrade update arrives on August 6.
“The high command has ordered an efficacy review of currently available mine tactics,” reads the synopsis for the latest MO. “To conduct this review, Helldivers are ordered to kill or neutralize Liberty’s target number of enemies. If the target number of enemies is not met, Target number, the high command will specifically authorize the urgent addition of anti-tank mines to the arsenal of Helldivers.
“If the target number of enemies is eliminated, the existing mine plan will be sufficient and no additional mines will be authorized for the time being.”
What’s the target number, you ask? 1.5 billion, the remit is all enemies currently available, not specific bugs or bots. Still, the gaming community seems to have finally achieved its fatal goal.
As of this writing, approximately 716 million enemies have been slaughtered since the MO arrived on August 2, with player counts reaching 47% of the required total, with just over a day left to order. So, not impossible, but it seems like unless there’s a massive late rally, Super Earth will probably suffer on this one, eventually forcing them to use anti-tank mines.
To be fair, this is certainly not the first time the Helldivers 2 community has stalled in MO.
