Rarely do I find a creative decision completely confusing. Even if something is a little weird, I usually say, “Okay, I understand why they did it.” It’s not a hard thing to do, and creative decisions can be rationalized, even bad ones. But, dear reader, from the deepest recesses of my soul, I can’t even begin to understand what “Better People” is all about. Here’s the basics: It’s a biopic about pop star Robbie Williams. Well, I can handle that part, I’m sure being a guy in a band as big as Take That has some stories to tell. He’s in it too, seemingly as a narrator, which may be morally sketchy, but whatever. However, his fictional version is actually a computer-generated monkey. ah. What?

“I know what you’re thinking,” Williams himself tells us in the trailer. “What’s wrong with the monkey? I’m Robbie Williams. I’m one of the biggest pop stars in the world. But I always feel like I haven’t evolved enough.” Yeah, so, that seems to be what’s behind the whole monkey thing The reason, is just, is this really how you want to present yourself to the world? I mean, I would tell them that the CGI quality does look close to a modern War for the Planet of the Apes movies, but even so, I still have a hard time getting my head around it.

The official synopsis explains: “Based on the true story of the meteoric rise, dramatic fall and extraordinary resurgence of British pop superstar Robbie Williams, one of the greatest entertainers of all time… it follows Robbie Williams Than’s journey from childhood to stardom sounds a bit smug in places, but that’s what fame is, isn’t it?

The director is Michael Gracie (“The Greatest Showman”), and Jono Davis plays a younger version of Williams. The cast also features some faces that many Brits will be familiar with, such as Steve Pemberton (Doctor Who, Benidorm) and Alison Steadman (Gavin and Smith). Daisy”).
