The wolves no longer appear at the door, for they now roam the corridors of the Serpent Queen.
I have to say, the storyline of this show is really amazing.
From costume to hairstyle to location, Snake Queen is a force for entertaining ingenuity.
Period dramas can be a hard sell to most people, as most viewers crave action and laughter.
But the writers of “Snake Queen” bring unprecedented expertise to their storytelling.
This collection is full of glitz and glamor, and any dagger will reflect the light.
In Snake Queen, however, the real danger lies not in the weapons, but in those who don’t need a blade to cut down their enemies.
Viewers get a crash course in Clash Royale through a flawless level of exaggerated historical retelling.
Minnie Driver performs every scene of Queen Elizabeth
Speaking of over the top, how incredible is Queen Elizabeth? She trotted along the palace corridor at the entrance, like a lion stalking its many victims.
I can’t imagine how incredible this character is, from her lines to her wig.
She came to France to stir up mayhem, mayhem and disaster. While this doesn’t sit well with the other characters, it’s pretty fun to watch.
Queen Elizabeth was a complete force of nature at court.
Minnie Driver (“The Witcher: Bloodborne”) is chewing up every scene in a role that was tailor-made for her.
The fact that she’s able to deliver such an incredible performance while sweating it out under all the layers is a talent of the highest order.
There wasn’t a moment when she wasn’t 100% herself. She’s got enough smarts to fill up the space under those huge skirts.
There was plenty of room for Louis and his queen to smile as they went to war.
The Bourbons continue to fight the Serpent Queen, but the comedy keeps failing
If there’s one thing this episode made clear to the Bourbons, it’s that they are complete idiots. At least Louis and Antoine were.
Antoine’s wife and son seem to be very intelligent. Jeanne must be an audience favorite because the Queen of Navarre is hilarious.
She and Antoine bicker in the same way a married couple bickers like Fred and Essol in I Love Lucy. This is absolutely hysterical.
Jeanne is not at all concerned about Antoine and Antoinette’s illicit relationship.
The writers are working hard with the Bourbon family in The Snake Queen because the entire family feels like the show’s comedic relief.
Louise played by Danny Keelan in The Sandman and Antoine played by Nicholas Burns in Black Mirror have to be some of the worst schemers ever.
Antoine is definitely not a fan of Edith, but it’s so fun to watch him squirm when he returns to her camp.
These brothers act as if they are members of the first royal family, possessing immense power.
I sincerely hope they don’t go anywhere because it’s so interesting to see how easily these men can be manipulated by the women around them.
Antoinette is busy looking for a needle, her disguise is falling apart
Speaking of manipulation, what’s going on with Cardinal? Once people find God, they usually become better people.
He seemed to be on a downward spiral. The way he interacts with everyone around him makes him look nervous.
I must admit that some of Edith’s teachings were not entirely wrong, but they were ideals that could be achieved without religious institutions.
Now Antoinette must intervene, as knights wearing flowing robes and oversized crosses show up to investigate her son.
At least Francois is now out of the woods and out of the woods.
Still, I wouldn’t let him do something drastic to his brother.
Their relationship seems rooted in living up to their mother’s expectations, and their brotherhood seems tenuous at best.
So while I don’t think Raza Jaffrey’s Francois in Code Black will kill his brother, it’s possible that the Duke will do something drastic to bring his brother back to reality.
The Cardinal has a rude awakening when he discovers that God barely ordained Edith’s poisoned existence.
Snake Queen continues to exceed expectations with inspired storytelling
One of the biggest mysteries since the second episode of Season 2 of Snake Queen is how Edith survived the attempt on her life.
Now we know. Or, at least, we know how she survived the poison.
If Catherine’s conversation with Angelica is taken seriously, Edith was never actually poisoned.
While this is a reasonable and logical explanation, it would be even more interesting if it was actually poison.
While Angelica may still be on the Queen’s hit list, the Snake Queen has more critical issues to deal with.
First there’s her brother, who we’re pretty sure is actually related but is plotting against her.
Perhaps his plan was not for Catherine, but to gain the power, wealth, and respect he felt he deserved.
God knows Catherine couldn’t afford to lose any more children. Heracles was strangled, and Elizabeth was married. Only Charles, Anjou and Margot remained.
Some of Katherine’s children already aren’t too fond of the Starz series.
Charles was actually close to death. Margot is a hollow-eyed, naive and whiny princess.
Then came Anjou – a beautiful prince with a temper that rivaled that of a bull.
I will say, though, that one of the best parts of this episode was watching Anjou and Queen Elizabeth have their sarcastic bickering.
If Charles had ended up like Hercule, they might have had more poignant dialogue.
The not-so-virgin queen said she would marry the winner of the fencing competition.
The red-haired Chaos Messenger knew tea and forced everyone to take action without hesitation.
I don’t care if Elizabeth is a technological villain. Minnie Driver is serving the Queen, while Catherine continues to be mother.
There are only two episodes left in Snake Queen season 2, and there will likely be more bodies dropped before we get to the finale.
This does not bode well for Anjou and Margot.
But let’s be honest, is anyone else having an easy time this season besides Queen Elizabeth?
The Snake Queen continues to exceed expectations with inspired storytelling and extraordinary performances in award-winning costumes and makeup.
So, be sure to draw your sword. We may only have two episodes left, but this is just the calm before the storm.
Do you think Charles will survive his injuries?
How do you think Catherine would handle it if she lost another child?
